    Bionic Sounds or Silence?

I'm sitting here watching SMDM, and it's a Season 2 ep. In the first couple of seasons, the only bionic sound you could hear was Steve's eye. When he ran or jumped or lifted things, you couldn't hear that signature sound.

So which do you prefer? Bionic sounds, or silence, (except the eye)?

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

    Gotta have the sounds.

I almost wish the DVD's had an option to turn on newly added sound effects

BTW, also in the early episodes sometimes Steve runs at actual speed - and it's kinda funny in fast motion

Don't forget there were other times when they used his heartbeat too. It wasn't until the "Day of the Robot" you heard that signature sound (but it was used only for the bad guy). And along the way someone at the studio thought, "Hey..." It's definitely iconic. And honestly if they did the show today, it should still be used. Absolutely nothing dated about it, including the slow motion. That's a dynamic still used today to show high speed actions. They originally got that idea from NFL films back in the 70's and guess what? NFL films still uses it. Why shouldn't Steve Austin, if they ever make a new one? A good idea remains a good idea.

Sound effects are a must! When I got the DVD's I was really surprised how long it took for them to get all the bionic sounds into place!

I actually had a friend who tried to mimic the sound effect any time he ran. He did it until our pee-wee league football coach made fun of him in the fourth grade.

The sounds are iconic and important for me.

Off topic, how horrible is that TV Movie theme tune?

Even though the sounds are a bit silly when you think of it, they must be there....

"He's the MAN!" Yes, yes... One of those painful events from our childhood that made us actually appreciate the limitations of repeat viewings. And even though Lee Majors was PERHAPS the only human being that could actually look respectible in 70's clothes, even his image paled behind those lyrics.

I like it. It's funny, but kinda in a cool kinda way. Hey, I was wondering what was used to make that sound. I mean, is it an instrument or what?

Ancient Chinese secret. They discussed it in the box set special features. Lots of ideas, but no one is giving away the secret recipe.

Bionic sounds are key. However, as the series went on it seemed that they were being used excessively.
I notice it especially in the fourth season. Anybody else notice that?
