WGA's top 101 TV shows of all time..

So what's your take on this? some of these are debatable..

They say that television is a writer's medium, so it makes sense that the Writers Guild of America would have its own list of the 101 greatest TV shows of all time.

    Too many modern shows

IMO, TV shows need at least 20 years to gel before they should be considered

At one time Vanilla Ice was the most popular musician on the planet

Look how many on that list aired on HBO. And to me,Roots and Band of Brothers shouldn't be on that list. They were mini-series,not TV shows.

These lists are always interesting. It's like asking someone what's your favorite song. There's so much to choose from I'd say it's impossible to narrow it down to one and theres so many genres and differences among shows how does I Love Lucy compare with the Sopranos? I really liked The Wire. I really liked Arrested Development but the viewing experiences of the two were totally different and the content of the shows weren't even close so how could you compare the two. That's like saying I love Nirvanas Nevermind but you know what's also really good, Frank Sinatra's New York, New York.

Longevity has something to do with it. Relevance would be another consideration and yes how a show holds up through time should also be considered. It's always delicate putting a modern show on a best ever list. Take a show like Lost a few years ago which was insanely popular and then the series finale happened which ruined the show. On the flip side, a show like Six Feet Under was a good show while it was on and the series finale was one of the best finales ever and in turn brought the show to a whole new level. Then there was something like Deadwood, which was awesome, but it never came back for another season. It's a show without an end. Dexter a few years ago was great but the wheels started to fall off the last few seasons. Shows that always make lists like this, like All In The Family, are really dated as well. I mean if I were to watch one now it be like looking through an old photo album. I know it was edgy and groundbreaking at the time but today a lot of what made it spectacular gets lost to time. Not to mention a lot of shows that were totally enjoyable back in the day are sometimes unwatchable today. I recently tried to rewatch some Knight Rider and couldn't get through a single episode. So I don't know how you can lump all these shows from all these genres from all these decades and compare them to one another.
