    How nuts am I?

I have The Twilight Zone on DVD and blu ray in premium quality and uncut and I haven't cracked it open in months. But here comes the Sci-Fi Twilight Zone marathons with it's out of date transfers, editing, graphics bugs and frequent commercials and I am glued

    Yep,

    I'm the same with music

I have all Pink Floyd songs on CD but if I hear one on a fuzzy AM radio station I have to crank it up

I think its the enjoyment of just watching it on TV. On disk its like you have to make time to watch it.

I've been wrestling with this for a while actually. I've got a mountain of DVD's in the closet that I keep asking myself; "Why do you have all of these things. Sell 'em if anybody even wants 'em." But then I thumb through the channels, find nothing on 90% of the time (the other 10% is normally stuff on the DVR) and I get to thinking about how much we're paying for this nonsense. So I think; "We could cancel this unnecessary expense and just watch these DVD"s!". But then I sit down at the computer and now thanks to my dual monitor set up, I can put some form of video entertainment on one screen while I surf around or work on something in the other monitor. And still the DVD's sit and the satellite bill keeps coming. Insanity I say. Insanity.

            The Invaders is my favorite.

Do it Jim's Megos cancel the tv you'll feel great! My wife and I realized that with our vast amount of DVDs and Netflix streaming and DVDs and amazon streaming we could kick the habit. And we did. Been nearly a year now and I don't miss it. Now if you're a big sports fan you probably can't do this but man now if I see loud a$& commercials somewhere it drives me nuts.

I forgot to mention how much satellite tv was costing us (my kid stopped up the potty), it was running about $150 monthly. I thought we could watch reruns for a lot less than that.

Part of the problem is that, lets say you feel like a Star Trek, or a Twilight Zone. Whether it's DVD, blu ray or streaming, you try to come down to one episode out of the many you like. When they are on TV and you like the show, they take care of that for you

Another problem with DVDs is no bathroom break. I mean you could but you get that bouncing DVD logo or worse yet,the DVD player will stop it all together and you have to start over.

My DVD players don't have auto shut down (or at least if they do I can turn it off). my newest blu ray player does but gives 30 minutes. Check your player settings, you can usually disable auto shutdown and auto screensaver.

It's the same w/ me and Star Trek Movies. I have all of the movies (up to Nemesis) on VHS, (yeah VHS!), and knowing that I can watch them anytime, and yet, I hardly ever do. When they're on TV, I love to watch. I guess it harkens to the days when stuff like this was an event. And it was exciting thinking about when it was coming on, and inviting your friends over, or if it was just the family, all watching together. It kinda makes you feel like you're part of something special, y'know? Like you're sharing the experience w/ others and can't wait to talk about it the next day.

Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
