What was you fav BEATLES era ?

As a follow-up to Monkey's Elvis thread, I thought a Beatles thread asking the same question would be fun.......

What Beatles era did you like best ?

    My breakdown .........

    1. MEET THE BEATLES- BEATLES Vl --- the darling lads from Liverpool

    2. HELP- REVOLVER --- we're more popular than God

    3. SGT. PEPPER - MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR ------- McCartney starts running the show.

    4. WHITE ALBUM - LET IT BE --------- Basically 3 guys doing solo albums on one album (Ringo don't count )

    Mine would be .......

    1. MEET THE BEATLES- BEATLES Vl --- the darling lads from Liverpool
I just love early Beatles stuff......

Hard to choose cause I like the Raw Bar Band sound from Hamburg Germany....The Lovable Mop Tops are great....But i guess It would have to be from Rubber Soul on.....That's when they made their mark. They went from a band that people danced to and became the band that people listened to......

The White Album-Let it be- I think the individual beatles came into their own as musicians then. Unfortunately it helped lead to their demise. I think George finally became a very competent songwriter during that time (here comes the sun, While My Guitar Gently weeps).

Almost impossible for me to answer as I love all four eras you've named----
          especially 2, 3, 4

It'd probably be era "3" with "4" neck and neck so close they were almost tied
--- with era "2" not that far behind, and "1" dead last

Nothing against era "1"---its just I like 2/3/4 that much more

Great band, great variety in a short 7 years

It depends on my mood. It changes all the time. The older I get though, the more I lean towards the early, simplier stuff.

#4. White Album - Let it Be. Basically the long-haired, dope-smoking years in which the urge to create interesting and unique music took precedence over all other concerns, including live performance and "image" control.

I heartily and happily disagree with Type1Kirk's saying this era was characterized by "3 guys doing solo albums on one album" (which I realize was tongue-in-cheek, but still!). First, Ringo contributed to the singing and songwriting -- at least one song per record was a Richard Starkey special -- and he also essentially invented the melodic drum roll, which characterizes rock music to this day. Second, though the White Album was certainly four solo artists working separately together, and Let it Be was a chaotic time of dissention and internal problems, their last recorded record -- Abbey Road -- was a team effort through and through, and to my ear, remains their best.

Mine is the Revolver era spilling into the Sgt. Pepper early sessions. Kinda where they disappeared from the limelight only to emerge with Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields.

                            I'd probably be stuck between 2 & 4. I guess right now I'd say 4.
