just for the record, who hasn't seen the original? and if you watched both which one did you see first, which one did you like the best?
I watched the UK one first and thought it absolutely brilliant. Liked it so much I had MAJOR reservations with the US one. I did eventually get around to watching the US one and I'd have to say it's pretty great. They are different shows. The UK version is uncomfortably realistic. The US one goes more over the top and can get a bit outlandish/goofy with it's characters (especially the Dwight Schrute character which is based on the Gareth Keenan character from the UK show)......

They made the boss character a bit more likeable on the US version, I mean, Michael Scott is an idiot but he has a likeable side to him as well. Where as David Brent is just all around unlikeable.

As for which I like best, It's hard to choose. Like I said, different shows.

as far as finale's go it was right up there, Michael's line was a classic for all time!! Actually, the last few episodes were very good . . . . all good things must come to an end

And i'd also add, like Brian said, I think this show will be considered a "classic". I can't think of any other show form the oughts with this sort of run that was as consistently funny and smart on network TV. Well, maybe Arrested Development, but that show had a short run and has sorta positioned itself as more of a cult classic.

"Two and a Half Men"? "Big Bang Theory"? Really?

Cosby Show, M*A*S*H, The Honeymooners, I Love Lucy, Burns & Allen, Leave It To Beaver, Andy Griffith Show. Highly doubt that The Office will even come close to the longevity of those shows. I Spy and even the original Star Trek were considered groundbreaking.

Watched it today and thought it was good- different than I would have expected, but I still enjoyed it. I must say I had many laughs from this show over the years, I'm definitely a fan. Even re-watching them has made me laugh which is not something most shows are capable of.

Sad to see it end, it was a good ride.

              That's what she said.

I have to believe he's referring to "Seinfeld" (definitely one of the worst sendoffs ever!).

I wouldn't say that the Office coined the phrase "that's what she said"--it's been around awhile. On it's face it's not even a funny joke--it's pretty corny. The whole point of that joke is that MICHAEL SCOTT thinks it's funny. It fits into his character perfectly--using an overused and out of date joke at every opportunity.....that's what makes it funny
