Kilmer hammed it up, he was a caricature.

    Costner can't act?

Did you see Kurt Russell's horrible performance as a wimpy Wyatt Earp? Russell almost ruined Tombstone.

Costner made one baddarse Wyatt Earp.

Have you seen him in Open Range? That's his best performance ever.

Hector, you are right. I do like almost all of his movies, which is weird considering his acting leaves me cold. He chooses his roles very well.

For the record, I loved The Postman.....now, Waterworld is another story.....lol

We shall agree to disagree. I like Kurt Russell and loved his Earp. We do agree....Open Range is definitely one of his best roles, if not his best.

Don't get me wrong, Costner has been in a lot of turkeys too, starting with the Bodyguard, lol.

But like you said, for some odd reason, he nails his Western movie roles.

Once Upon a Time in the West has my favorite opening scene of all time. Bronson is such a badass. Ride the High Country has my favorite ending.
Shane would probably 6th on my list.

Petty much what he said. And I can watch Westerns all day long, every day. Add Gunsmoke from episodes 1960-66 to that list (which can be found on-Demand under Encore Westerns) Excellently done. No wonder it lasted 20 years.. The episodes I mention are Adult topics before the sensors got ahold of the show. Rated PG-13 V-Violence.

Great thread. Lots of Great Westerns mentioned. Don't forget those Jimmy Stewart, Randolph Scott and Joel McCrea Westerns. All favs.

                                NOOOOOOO!!!

Yeah, nothing more intimidating than Billy Bob Thorton (who happened to play a bullying coward in the first place), lol.

You can laugh all you want, Tombstone is still overrated as hell, Kilmer plays a caricature, and Russell sucks.

Holiday had to fight Johnny Ringo, because wimpy Earp was no match for Ringo, now that's funny, lol.

BTW, neither Earp or Holiday killed Ringo in real life, and that's the problem with Tombstone, a lot less accurate than Costner's Wyatt Earp movie.

                                NOOOOOOO!
