DEEP PURPLE (One of the greatest bands ever!!)

Some of you may have never heard the band DEEP PURPLE but they are one of my favorite bands and probably the must shunned when it comes to things like the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.

I mean come on ABBA is in the Hall of Fame and when DEEP PURPLE gets eligible they are place in back of a camel's buttock and **** all over? It's a disgrace.

Anyway, the band has finally released their newest recording in years and it's a so amazing. (I bought the CD and vinyl) just because that's how I am about my favorite bands.

...and finally with the release of their new album, VH1 CLASSIC finally does (or should I say finish) the Deep Purple special they planned about four years ago but remastered it and put it on TV along brand new footage. Once you watch this video, you will understand what DEEP PURPLE is and why they should be where they are at and where they are not. Pick up their new CD! I promise you will love it!!!

I don't care much for the vocalist on the new album. DP is classic stuff for sure but for me I much prefer Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.
I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

On this new album and since 1970 or so its been the same guy on Vocals - Ian Gillian. Rainbow is the band who went thru a few vocalists. Are you thinking Joe Lynn turner?

I'd like to do a nerd-rock cover band called Deep Urkel.

Joe Lynn Turner was actually the vocalist on Slaves and Masters. Ian Gillan came back for The Battle Rages On and Ritchie Black more left shortly after that.

Also worth noting is that on Stormbringer, all songs are sung by Coverdale and Hughes except "Soldier of Fortune", sung by Coverdale, and "Holy Man" sung by Hughes.

Come Taste the Band featured Tommy Bolin supplying backing vocals on "Comin' Home" and share vocal duties on "Dealer", and Glenn Hughes supplying lead vocals on "Gettin' Tighter" and "This Time Around" & co-lead vocals on "You Keep On Moving".
Of all the souls I have encountered his was the most...human.

The only song I even remotely know by Deep Purple is Smoke on The Water. And of that just the intro and one line. Yep, you guessed it, "Smoke On The Water, and Fire In The Sky."
"Do you believe, you believe in magic?
'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."

I've given this another chance. I found the new album streaming and am listening to it now. I forgot how British Ian sounds at times. I'm loving the Hammond on the opening track.

Deep Purple kicks butt... They have lots of hits through the years... "Hush", "Woman from Tokyo", "Smoke..." And "Highway Star" come right to mind for me... I did always second guess them for being a rock band, but having a keyboard player... But they're totally cool, & I have several of their records....
