I've eaten fruit bat cooked in coconut milk when I was a kid. Yummy! Yummy! Also, I tried whale meat in Japan back in November. Taste good. On that same trip, my friend took me to a sushi restaurant and I ordered something that looked look at the window. Well, my friend didn't tell me what to expect. When my order arrived, I freaked out when I saw that fish that was made into sashimi was still alive. I waited until it was no longer moving before eating it. Mike, I get both racoons and possums in my backyard from time to time, perhaps I'll shoot one of each and try them out, lol.
BTW I do like pickled pigs feet, Mexican love that kinda stuff too.

When I was young I ate balut. I would never eat it again and I refuse to sit down at a table if I know there's balut. I have severe ornithophobia so I freak out. Anyway, balut is a half-formed duck egg/embryo that is boiled and eaten beaks, feet, head and all. When it comes out of its shell it's a very vomit-inducing black curled up dead bird and feathers with the yolk of the egg still attached.
Another thing I ate which I could probably still do is deep fried beetles in garlic. Place a blanket underneath a mango tree and shake the thing to death and all these beetles fall off. Stir fry them with garlic, and pluck off carapace and legs before popping them in your mouth. I remember them being very juicy and a little crunchy, and anything deep fried is usually great.
Other weirdness: frog legs, fish eyes, deep fried fish eggs--delectable!, octopus--too stretchy, boiled chicken blood in soup--yummy, pork blood in soup-yummy, crocodile, wildebeest, and I forget whatever kind of game meat they served in Nairobi at this restaurant that specialized in game meat. One of the worst things ever, which tasted really rubbery and not very great was jellyfish in a salad.Leave a comment:

Here in PA/NJ you can buy pickeled pigs feet by the jar in almost any grocery store ...

For meat, I think i'd eat just about anything -- except jellied garlic pigs feet.
I had some of that stuff, and imo it's pretty nasty.
The feet themselves wasn't bad....
But that clear garlic gelatin makes me hurl.

Man, for a guy who lives in south Louisiana, most of the stuff you guys are mentioning (octopus, squid, shark, alligator, etc) are delicacies here in Louisiana. Alligator is awesome (blackened or fried).
I will try anything once. I am like that guy on Travel Channel (I think the show is called "No Reservations"). Some of the strangest stuff I have tried are camel, mountain oysters (good), boiled sheep nuts in Saudi Arabia(nasty), some monkey/raccoon looking thing in Panama (Kuda maybe), rattle snake (very good), buffalo, blood sausage, hog head cheese (awesome), and a BBQ'ed pig tongue (actually pretty good).
I will not turn my nose at anything before trying it once.
