    Dexter: still any good?

I must say, Dexter isn't what it used to be.

There was a time when he had a code, and took his time. Each kill was something special, and a couple of episodes in the making.
Now it's wham bam and over. He makes a lot of mistakes, often he's almost caught.
He dumps his code, and dates a known killer (Hannah). Goes out of his way to defend her. He kills Hannah's father (a terrible man, but no killer).
It all seems very messy, and the reason why I liked this show is because it was meticulous.

It this the start of the end, when Dexter will eventually go down in flames?
Can't say I'm enjoying the show all that much anymore...

I'm not caught up with the most recent stuff.

I got tired of how lazy the writers seem to be. Like, when ever they need Dexter to be emotional they just forget about the fact that he's a sociopath, and Dexter gets all worked up. When Dexter became a single dad, and 'poof' the writers just made the kids vanish so they could get back to the formula. Dexter never shows up for work, until the writers need to stretch something out, and then he conveniently gets a call on his cell phone. Like you said, "The Code" is another aspect that comes and goes when it's convenient.

I still like Michael C. Hall's performance, but without Dexter being a sociopath it's not as compelling. Because the writers play so loose with the 'rules' they set up it takes away all the suspense for me, so I think that's why I lost interest.

This last past season was by far the weakest, yes, it's winding down, this will be the last season.

All shows goes through this, they stay too long and suffer. Exceptions are short series like Spartacus, it was only three seasons long, plus a prequel, the kept it fresh till the end, and went out with a bang, perfect closure to a great violent bloody and nudity galore show, lol.

Having said that, Dexter is one of my all time favorite shows, I hope it goes out with a bang as well.

He killed that dude in the bathroom one time for no reason and that was several seasons ago all because he wasn't letting his emotions out. Sure the guy was being a jerk and he looked like a d-bag, but Dexter just took an anchor to that guys face and left him there. I'm pretty sure that didn't fit in with the code either.

They're pretty lazy when it comes to aspects of his job and parenthood. He works like 15 minutes a day, I'd love to have his job, and nobody minds.
He sees Harrison about two minutes a day, when he comes home and the kid goes to bed.
Btw, that kid must be the worst actor ever. I know, it's a kid, but there's absolutely no connection between them. The boy is constantly looking away (probably where his real mom is). It just looks fake.

I miss the early days of the show, the first seasons were really good. After the Trinity Killer, it kind of started slipping. I also thought that the relationship with Lumen was much more interesting. I was sorry to see her go.

I probably is the last season and if it's not it should be. It's still good and with all his missteps from last season, like Hec said, I hope it's coming down to big blow up.

As Dexter seems to be losing control, I think it would be fitting if he had to be stopped by Debra in the end.
I can hardly imagine this will be a happy ending...
