The trauma is just going to be heavy, they missed out on thier whole childhood, I just wonder if they were allowed to watch the news, so atleast know whats going on in the world.

The video above, I havent laughed so hard for a while, cheers !!

        stupidity

Call me a cold hearted jerk, but I have a hard time feeling sympathy. Even at age 5 I knew better to get in a car with anyone. To me, there is really no excuse for being 16/17 and getting in a car with a stranger. My parents taught my sister and I to never trust ANYONE...ANYONE and even at 13 I was aware of sexual predator teachers, priests, cops, etc.

My parents were true crime buffs and instead of reading Goosebumps or something I was reading Bloodletters and Bad Men at age 10. I'm sure a lot of parents would have looked down on mine for allowing me to be exposed to something like that, but it made me aware at an early age of what lurks out there and it prevented me from falling prey to anything.

I find that disturbing considering the horrific nature of this case.

"Police say the women were apparently bound by ropes and chains at times and were kept in different rooms. They suffered prolonged sexual and psychological abuse and had miscarriages, according to a city councilman."

In kidnapping cases it's often people the victims knew and not just some random stranger they should have been wary of.

"Castro's daughter, Arlene Castro, appeared on ABC's "Good Morning America" on Thursday. She tearfully described being embarrassed and devastated upon learning of her father's suspected role in her good friend Gina DeJesus' kidnapping. Arlene was walking home from school with DeJesus in April 2004 just before she disappeared."
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

            Ok, I'll do it. You're a cold-hearted jerk.

I think the 'scorn' you speak of is in the general direction of anyone responsible, aware, or involved at any level of something like this. I doubt anyone here would have the same feelings while knowing full well that someone was merely related and not actually involved.

Funny how the media only covers the bombastic...
