I had like 8 or so. You will be fine and in dreamland like many already mentioned. Like Hector- I have Diverticulosis, I'm being super careful with my diet to avoid an infection which will likely lead to major surgery.

My dad had colon cancer. But they got to it so early they were able to take it out without any radiation treatment. Thus I am a candidate. So I get one every three years. It's absolutely no big deal. You're actually not all the way out. Because you have to be aware enough to follow instructions from the surgeon during the process. But you have zero recollection. That's actually the strangest part of the process. My reality of the events is being told to count backwards from 10. I reach 7 and then I slowly wake up. Everything that happens between saying 7 and waking up is a complete edit. No passage of time at all. It's weird. They say you may be too weak in the stomach to eat for several hours. Bull crap! I was ready to eat a cow thigh once I could orient myself. We always go straight to a food source after these scopes. But it's no big deal. You just feel a little separated from reality for a several hours until the drug gets out of your system. And the stuff you drink the day before is no big deal either. I can't think of the name of it, but the stuff I get comes in a four bottle pack, comes in different flavors, and tastes like wine coolers. You can get it at Walgreens. It cleans you out, but once again, no big deal.

Over here, they sedate you but only mildly. It's over before you know it.
That was nothing compared to a prostate exam. I swear, I do believe that doctor will one day be exposed as being some sort of sadist. I think he used a golf club. A putter, by the feel of it...

My p exam wasn't as bad as I thought.

I had one about 10 years ago (different dr) and it was awful

It hurt down there for like a month after - and even after that it still didn't feel back to normal

The another one last week (new Dr) and was nowhere near as bad

So it does matter who does it and how they do it

Yeah, it's weird how you aren't completely out, but you have zero recollection when you come out of it. I also go get something to eat as soon as I get out, after a day or two of not eating, I can't wait!

The first time, I had to drink a couple little bottles of something the night before (after a couple days of fasting) and then let it go to work. The second time, I had a different doctor, and because it was scheduled in the afternoon instead of first thing in the morning, I had a different prep, and had to drink 4 litres (over 1 gallon) of this nasty, greasy tasting stuff called Peglyte, 2 litres the night before and 2 litres the morning of. It was absolutely horrible to drink and it was near impossible to choke that much of it down, but somehow I did it. I thought I was going to throw up and die. Next time I'm going to make sure I have an early morning appointment and have the other prep medication instead. Just remember Mike, you DO NOT want to drink a gallon of that Peglyte crap, so make sure you will be taking the other stuff (forget what it's called) for the prep.
