Yeah it's no big deal, my doc gave me some good drugs beforehand and I don't remember a thing. The worst part is the prep the day before, when you gotta get yourself emptied out. That part isn't fun.
Mike, like others said, it's no big deal, is for your benefit.
I had one years ago, they found diverticulitis, my colon became infected, and a ton of complications started, and to make a long story short, had the entire colon removed.
The good news, I will never get colon cancer.
Now the procedure I do every few years is a sigmoidoscopy.
BTW, I'm having surgery this coming Monday for something related, but I'll be discharged the very same day.
I had an anal probe b/c I have IBS. I have to remember to drink lots of water and fruit juice and eat plenty of fiber, fruits and veggies. Now it's no problem.

'Cos I believe, I believe that I do,
Yes, I can see I believe that it's magic
If your mission is magic your love will shine true."
From everything I've heard, dying of colon cancer is a hard way to die. The slight discomfort or embarrassment of a colonoscopy to help prevent such a thing is infinitely preferable. Good luck man, but no need to get too stressed about it.
