I'd rather endure the fart. It WILL go away. Skunk smell lasts for week. Our road is like a mine-field of road kill skunks. Plus, my dogs have been sprayed several times. Y-UCK.

Skunk scent will smell up a dog or cat for over a month. I rather put up with a room full of people who have eaten boiled eggs.

You can get away from a fart. Not so much with skunk smell.

Hmm - fair answers, but I think there's some exceptions.

For example, on a road trip fart is worse: you're trapped in the car with the fart, but the skunk smell is just something you drive past.

Then again, any road trip I've been on ends with the car stinking like farts no matter what.

Definitely prefer a fart. My grandparents lived out in the boonies and you always knew when some car had hit a skunk, it was just that powerful.

But if both had the same duration, I'd take skunk over fart any day of the week.

My wife kind of likes the smell of skunk (from far away, of course), but she despises my farts .

While a Skunk smell is horrible and lasts, some farts make you want to puke. Which a Skunk has never made me do.
