              He really doesn't get the credit he deserves as a songwriter and guitarist. He took stands in his career that would have sidelined a lesser talent.

                  So well said. That's all what this song was about.. and imo, it was the best performance of that night.

                      I really like Petty. I've never seen him live, which I need to rectify.

                      'I won't back down" has gotten me through some rough times in my life. Love his version, and Johnny Cash's, with Petty and the Heartbreakers on backup.

                        If you get a chance to each the documentary Running Down A Dream, it's excellent. I wish I'd have seen when he toured with Dylan in the mid 80s.
