I really wish that people with political axes to grind would go grind them somewhere else. There are plenty of other places to post loaded half-truths from biased news sources, crazed conspiracy theories, and arguments about what is whose fault. This really isn't the time or place to get into it, especially when all the facts aren't in yet.

For those with kids, how are you talking to them about this? For me, we are keeping the images away from them, but letting them know this sad thing happened and that it is important to do what we normally do, but to also pay attention to the things mommy and daddy tell them, if we are out and about in a crowd, etc. What are your thoughts?
          It's all good!

Mr. Rogers said it best: "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.' To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,' I remember my mother's words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers--so many caring people in this world."

Yeah, I kind of feel bad about what I wrote, even. It doesn't matter why anyone did it. It's horrible that it happened at all, because innocent civilians should never be brought into a violent scenario like this. I read some tweets earlier from a few famous people (I won't go into who they are), and it was almost palpable how they were reveling in it, seeming to hope it was one of their countrymen in order to prove their perspective is right. In situations like these, we need be be like a fasces, and stick tight to one another.

Mr. Rogers addressed that in true Mr. Rogers fashion

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers - so many caring people in this world.” — Mister Rogers

Well said. That has really been the story behind this tragedy. And I'm glad the news coverage has followed that narrative to some degree. Giving heroes the spotlight says more about us in a moment like this, than pointing fingers at our perceived enemies in the shadows.

the true ignorance of people can come out when situations like this happens.

Best thing anyone can do is not generalize a specific group or individual, let the professionals do their investigations, and show your condolences for the families involved.

Stay vigilant and never let your guard down.

Lets keep the thread about the victims and their families and show our support.

Mr. Rogers is fine if you're kid is in pre-school. Anyone older than that needs begin to understand life is full of good and bad people.

My girl sat down and asked "what happened"? I simply told her some bad men hurt some innocent people.

The point of his quote isn't that there aren't bad people in the world.

It's that when you hear about an event like this, it's better to focus on the number of good people committing good acts rather than fixating on evil, because those negative emotions will just give you slanted impression of the world. The number of helpers will ALWAYS overwhelm number of bad people... we see it time and time again with this kind of thing. There's a lot of good in the world, and that's something positive to take away from these terrible tragedies.

If you think that's only a lesson for pre-school age children, I'm speechless.

FBI has now released photos/CCTV footage of two suspects wearing backpacks, then not. FBI website is crashing. Let's hope they catch these b*astards.
