I was wondering if someone in the Megomuseum works for the US post office. Why has the price to ship a 8 inch Mego from the USA to Canada jumped from 8 dollars average to about 22 dollars average. I will be buying a lot less from now on. I have been avearging about 2 transaction a week from the US over the past year. Now I will most likely only average 1 a month, maybe less. In there greed the US post office is just killing itself. Is it not better to get 8 dollars than zero ( 0 ) dollars? Does anyone out there ship for a more reasonable price? Maybe Fed Ex or UPS etc. With the recent price gouging by US post its only a matter of time now before they are remembered like the steam engine or telegraph.

Why has shipping doubled or tripled

I'm not familiar with the US to Canada rates. But the U.S post office lost another 15 Billion of taxpayer money last year. They need overhaul their whole plan. When I ship A large heavy package to Canada via FedEx it's almost double as soon as it crosses the border, compared to if I shipped right up to the border on the U.S side. -
$22.00? You can send an 8" Mego from US to Canada for under $10 via First Class international. An 8" figure would fit in a Priority Mail International small flat rate box and that would cost $19.95 to send to Canada, but such a figure would be light enough to send by First Class International for half the price. I just checked on usps.com too. I guess it all depends on how the seller wants to ship it.Comment

I am not trying to stir up a hornets nest here. It is just that I have been told from sellers in here that the price has recently doubled and even tripled in some cases. If UPS can ship for 9 dollars then I am back in the game. Typical shipping with US post has been 8 to 11 dollars in the past. Recently to buy 2 carded retro figures from Florida, the shipping to Ontario was quoted at 22 dollars, instead of the usual 11 from the post office. I will let the seller know that UPS can do it for 9.15 Thanks for the heads up, thats why this site is the best. Best regards. MIKEComment

Well, TWO carded figures is going to add alot to the weight when you consider you'd need a much bigger box to safely ship two carded figures.
My quote was for a single LOOSE Mego--two carded figures would probably be in the $13 - $15 range.Comment

Hmmmm....
I think there's been a reclassification of different shipping methods lately; hence the jacked up prices. At least on stuff like the automated cost calculator used on sites like ebay. Cheapie rates are still pretty low, and service to Canada is pretty good.

Shipping 2 figures more than likely put the package over the 1lb mark that is required for 1st class shipping. The price goes way up for priority mail. Now maybe not $22 but not much under that. And i doubt fedex or ups would be cheaper.Comment
