Anybody else think modern TV has ruined Bigfoot ?

Back in the 70's I loved Bigfoot.

He was popular and used to appear on some TV shows and movies but he never oversaturated the media to tedium.

Unfortunately the same cannot be said for today.

I never thought i'd hear myself say this but I hate modern Bigfoot documentaries

They made something that was fun and even a little scary and turned it into boring overplayed crap

I've caught a bit of them while channel surfing. They looked to me to just be more of the same reality TV stuff under a different name. It also occured to me that the people on those shows couldn't find an animal in a zoo let alone a something like a bigfoot in a couple hundred miles of forest.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I loved watching documentaries about Bigfoot growing up. I still watch them when they come on today even though their not as good.

Same deal with UFOs. Or ghosts for that matter.

Yep it really sucks how the genre has been exploited to the point of nausea. And yes I know it's an exploitative subject anyway but it's just not fun anymore. All these folks wanting 'scientific proof and explanations' have sucked the thrill ride out of the shadows. Seriously how much fun is a ghost story if all a ghost "really" is is a ball of light? I want my spooks to look like see through people who had a rough day behind the wheel or Dante's Inferno style demons and such.

I remember as a kid those Bigfoot and UFO shows would keep promising incredible footage, then drag on and on with other stuff until finally showing a few seconds of fuzzy footage before ending. I use to love them, but I think watching one of those again as an adult would be boring now too.

I never miss these shows. I think I like the newer versions much more than the older ones because they try to make more scientific points nowdays. Ancient Aliens is a huge favorite. I have like 50 episodes saved on the DVR.....LOL. I'm not nieve' enough to actually believe all of this BS, but I think theres a certain small percentage of it that has a basis in fact.....and even the BS is entertaining. I have had one experience in my life that I would describe as "unexplainable" and I suppose after you experience something of this type, you might tend to pay a bit more attention, or give a bit more credibility, to some of these stories.

Unfortunately technology has made the myth a harder sell today. With a huge number of folks carrying a cell phone with digital photo and HD capabilities, it's a harder argument to suggest this furry giant can stumble into view and the shots are still "fuzzy". And that new show that "searches" for big foot is just a variation of the sham ghost trackers that stand around in atmospheric lighting and say "What's that?!"

They still do that nowadays. I can't tell you how many specials I've tuned into about some "amazing" find at one of the Pyramids in Egypt and they get to the end and then...nothing.

I totally agree. All these shows, including ghosts and aliens and other mystery shows are just too repetitive and omnipresent. I used to love them, even the cheesy ones, but now I skip right by them.

As some of you may know, I'm a true believer because I had my own encounter with Bigfoot. To this day, in fact just last week, I still have the occasional vivid nightmare about it. There is something lurking in the forests of Ohio. I've seen it.
Now as an adult, I don't think there's any "boogeyman" aspect to the creature. I simply think we're talking about a rare species of animal that hasn't been officially discovered by science. I realize the skeptics will continue to say that's impossible, but I must disagree. If an animal is smart enough and doesn't want to be found, it won't be. Simple as that.
Personally, I think eventually one will be hit by a car. Though much less frequent than deer crossings, there have been a number of documented roadside encounters over the years.

As a skeptic I just want to clarify that the scientific position isn't that it's impossible for Bigfoot to exist, it's just highly unlikely, and the documentable evidence so far is much too weak to affect that position.

I've already been in a few long debates in these threads regarding Bigfoot (and ghosts and ufos) so I'll step aside, but I think it's always good to be specific about that point, because a proper skeptic should even be prepared to question their own believes, if the evidence requires them to.

I love all those shows. I never miss Finding Bigfoot either! Look, anyone who has ever flown over this country and had a window seat has got to know, ANYTHING could be living in all that unexplored space down there. I just doubt Matt and Bo Bo will ever find it. I just think the show is funny with some of the stuff they say.
I also like how the use current tech and apply it to casts and footage to help decide if it is real.
