    What's Worse; Seller's Regret or Buyer's Remorse

I've been doing ebay a lot this month and the other day, I actually pulled one of my auctions because after three days in, I realized it was too cool to part with. This guy if your wondering: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MEGO-GIGANTO...item1c30e90d33 I didn't have a bid yet but I had a lot of watchers and two offers to buy it outright (plus one guy asking me what happened to it after I ended it early.) Now in the past, I've sold some things before and a month or even a few years will go by and I'll think man I wish I never got rid of_________ Just the same I've packed up some stuff and thought why did I ever buy this in the first place. So it got me to thinking what's worse...buyers remorse or seller's regret?

I your case, Def buyers remorse. You had no bids and pulled the auction. Even if you did have bids, imo, buyers remorse is worse anyway.

Buyer's remorse. With a seller's remorse, you're not really taking away from the buyer, they didn't have the item to begin with.

I hate seller's remorse. I can deal with buyer's remorse because it's generally that I've paid too much - no real sentiment involved. However, with seller's remorse I've lost an item that I want back (thinking of my grandmother's mantle clock). Not cool.

I totally agree with what you said. Sometimes you get rid of something and you can never get it back no matter how hard you try and I think that eats at you way more than overspending on something you could have gotten cheaper.

They both suck no doubt but I think regretting something you sold or had and can't get back lingers longer than overspending on something you wanted.

I will say that when I over spend on something, it usually leads to me resenting that thing or liking it less than i should, which than leads to me wanting to get rid of it, which leads me to selling it, which leads to buyers regret, which leads to me re-aquire the thing I sold usually at a higher price than I paid for it the first time....It's like my own person version of The Never Ending Story, like an Ouroboros. Trying to break that cycle is why I pulled the auction in the first place.

Buyer's remorse is worse for me. I'm not saying I haven't sold things that I wouldn't like to have back, but those are just fleeting thoughts. There's nothing worse to me than feeling ripped off or cheated.

First let me say that is one freaky-teaky Kong! I saw that auction when it was live- had it started at a lower price I probably would have bid.

For me, it would have to be seller's regret. If I over-paid for something then I'm out money- and money comes and it goes- but it's still just money.

If I sell something I end up missing, I may or may not be able to find it again.

Seller's regret on several itms I've let go. Never really had buyer's remorse since you can always resell it if you do.

                  What a great question!

I've been walking by the 'bay quite a bit the last month, selling things. So far, I feel pretty good. Let one item go I really liked, but it was going for stupid money and I have stupid bills to pay.

I don't think I've ever sold anything with any sentiment, like a grandmother's mantel clock or the actual toys I had as a kid. If I know I can replace it, even at a higher price later on, I don't stress too much. And I've never actually gone back out and replaced something I sold.

But I do have things I know I overspent on, and it always effects how much I like the item. For example, right now I have a Hot Toys Bespin Luke Skywalker that just kicks *****, but I won't even look at it because I spent $300 on it. It's still in the box, untouched and unloved.

Yeah to hell with it, I'll wait until the next Star Wars movie and move that Som***** out fast.

I've never bought something that I regret in any way, that I can think of.
Of course, I'm always really tight on money, so usually I just buy if it's good deals or is always expensive, so I don't think I've overspent on anything. And the few things I did spend alot of money on are still worth that.

But sellers remorse? Oh heck yeah. When I really needed money (for food!) I've sold things I really regret. A 12" Henshin Cyborg, and 12" RAH Kamen Rider?! Nooooo! The ENTIRE set of McFarlane Where the Wild Things are. NOoooo! Mego C.H.I.P.s Ponch and John in great condition AND their bikes?! Good grief.
I've never gotten any of those back yet. And that's off the top of my head.

'Sold' things I really liked still physically pains me years after.

Of course, I didn't starve to death, so I'm still around to regret them, so there's that.

I've forgotten over-paying, but I can remember the things that I shouldn't have sold.

I hate having sellers remorse. There are a few things that I have sold that I wish I didn't now (Tomlands, Dungeons and Dragons figures to name a few.) I know that the items are gone and the odds of me getting some of them back are slim. At least with buyers remorse I can still turn around and get rid of the item if I really don't want it.

Thats why I never sell anything, Id rather be on bread and water than see something prized go. I can only think of a couple of incidents when I had buyers remorse simply over paying, thats why I never jump on anything, theres always going to be another.

I've never really experienced seller's regret. I liquidated most of my toys just because they were cramping my lifestyle and had to go......when you buy something you don't need and can't sell it or return it....that's frustrating....

I hate NONbuyers remorse. I am learning to not over think things and just buy why I want. Like Scott said, I can always resell it.
