Mego's mixing of Marvel and DC...not really unique?

You hear a lot about how great WGSH was because it had both Marvel and DC characters in one collection, but aren't we seeing a LOT of that going on right now, and hasn't it been like that pretty consistently?

I can think of the following companies that all produced both Marvel and DC in the same collections at the same time or close to it.

    Remco Energized and Powerized heroes
    Colorforms sets
    Funko Wacky Wobblers
    Hot Toys movie masterpiece figures
    Eaglemoss lead figures
    PEZ dispensers
    Toy Biz 1990 figures
Hasbro 9 inch signature series figures
    Sideshow statues and busts
    Minimates figures
    Lego sets

It's incorrect to cite toybiz and hasbro as they never had the licenses at the same time.

I'd say in the last four years it's become a trend again but the 80s and 90s were pretty dry periods, specifically for action figures.

and did any of those cross promote on packaging? Outside of Mego and Captain Action, I think its unique. Don't remember if the Energized heroes did that.

Yea, definately on the packaging and advertising. Did any rack toys or other material have characters from both companies on it back in the seventies?

Even those small figures that come in the "eggs" now keep the characters and packaging seperate.

With the current Captain Action line up of DC costumes coming late this year, it will be interesting to see how those shelves look and whether both licenses can co-habitat or of one has to be cleared off for the other. Now THAT will be a slice of the old days if it happens.
