For me, there were a few older episodes that were the beginning of the end for me.

The one where they gave Skinner another background as an army deserter .... Hated it

The one where Homer bought a handgun --- to me this episode marked when Simpsons went from being a sitcom to a "cartoon"

      Hmmmm....

I still enjoy them; they've had some really good ones the last few years, and some really not good ones. I think the big problem is that they're starting to lap themselves; they reuse ideas and have to ignore stuff to make new episodes work.

      >The one where Homer bought a handgun

Like that. When Marge freaked out over it I had to wonder, 'cos it was done after the episode where she joined the police. And the one where Marge got into body building was essentially the same episode as the cop one.

But hey; it's free, and they've done some good ones. (The Gran'pa wrasslin' one is worth it for Burns' song.)

The only thing about the newer ones I don't understand is how many things just disappear.... often mid episode. Two that stuck with me:

-Marge's gyms, which were quite prevalent and made a LOT of money
      -the new comic shop

This was pretty funny too; watch to the end:

I'll watch to the bitter end. Definitely in decline but still has enough whimsy for me.

Can't say the same for Family Guy, I loved it but it feels like the car is out of gas.

            Here are some fun facts:

Since its debut on December 17, 1989, the show has broadcast 522 episodes and the twenty-fourth season started airing on September 30, 2012. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest-running American primetime, scripted television series. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 26 and July 27, 2007, and grossed over $527 million.

Futurama's a hit and miss lately

              Family Guy, forget it.

Seems when Cleveland Show started Family Guy pooped out

Futurama was my favourite show when it was originally on, it's weird, I feel like I'm forcing myself to watch the new ones.

I've tried to watch Futurama since it returned, but it just feels different. I can't get into it.

Family Guy came back swinging, but I've gotten tired of it.

I've only caught a few "Cleavland Show" episodes. Never cared for "American Dad" much.

I really liked King of the Hill early on, but I got bored with it after a season or so.

I too love this show. Way better and than the cartoons that followed it.

I watched the first couple of seasons of the Simpsons. Bart is jerk and Homer is inconsiderate imbecile. I get it, I'm bored. Never got the appeal of Family Guy or American Dad. The humor is just too cruel and vulgar for my tastes.
You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...
