Can't say I was mesmerized by the premiere, but it it held my interest pretty well. These shows often need a few to get rolling, so I'll keep tuning in. As the review I linked said, you can certainly see the limited budget/scope of the production (especially when compared to the cinema of GoT), but that's not necessarily a bad thing, as long as the characters and story are strong.

I've never been a Gabriel Byrne fan, and feel like he's a bit of a miscast as the chieftain, but oh well.. he's the show's biggest "name" after all..

I was thinking the same thing. And I thought the show was pretty good it kept my attention enough for me to give it a few more chances.

Looks good,I really like all stuff to do with the Norsemen,will keep alook out for it as we generally get tv shows a little later over here.

Game of Thrones start on the 1st of April over here,hope it's not an April fools joke.

I was a bit stunned at the sight of the Vikings slaughtering a bunch of cowering, un-armed monks..

But I guess that's what them Vikings do, right?

That really happened. To the vikings, it was like, "Eh, easy money."

I saw the premiere episode, and it's missing the blood, nudity, and gore of Starz' Spartacus.

Vikings also feels very low budget.

Perhaps if this show was in one of the premium cable channels like HBO, Showtime, or Starz, then it might be better.

I've watched the first four eps on Hulu and I am impressed and hooked. It will be interesting to see how this season ends.....although the pace of the show is a bit slow, it is intelligently written and the characters are compelling.
