    Shelf Catastrophes

I guess everyone here who displays toys has experience with this unfortunate phenomena. After sitting perfectly still on his shelf for four-plus years Galactus decided to jump taking almost everyone else with him.

None of these figures are very valuable or anything, and none were badly damaged in any way - but it still made a huge mess.

Some of the pieces were found halfway across the room, and it took me 10 minutes to find a piece of Glactus' skirt that had skidded off under my desk. Some of the figures even managed to fall into the shelf directly below it where they knocked over more figures.

It took a ridiculous amount of time to try and rearrange these the way I had them - and it still doesn't look right to me yet.

The worst part for me is the discovery - I think it's a teeny tiny bit like walking into a room and discovering a murdered body.

Isnt there a putty adhensive thats perfect for this?

When I looked at peoples collections with tons and tons of valuable figures together high on a shelf, I always wonder how long it will take till....

Mine stay low to the floor below the television.

It stinks, but it happens. It happens daily with a Justice League/JLU collection. No amount of DAP poster tack can make some of those characters stand up. I think Dove (of Hawk and...) is the worst offender I have.

Some of my Famous Covers just can't stay where they are.
When I'm watching TV, and I hear a bump in my toyroom above, I know Hawkeye has taken yet another leap to freedom, taking at least a dozen others with him.
Same for my LOTR Balrog. That thing is huge, and totally topheavy. After a few disasters (he took out half of Middle Earth, even with Gandalf screaming "you shall not pass!!!"), I wired him to a platform.

Dam rik! A balrog will take out half a room! I had a stack of five of those things at one point. Completely blocked my upstairs hallway.

I've used fishing wire to "restrain" most of my hard cases.

I used an old toilet seat cover as a base for my Balrog, drilling holes through the soles of his feet. Put that in your special edition, Peter Jackson!

I can not count how many times Kerry Von Erich has taken out the rest of my wrestling figures and how annoying it can be.

This has happened to me a couple of times w/ VHS tapes. I had them in those snap together cube like shelves, and a couple of times the connectors gave way and crash! I finally wised up and got stackable drawers.

Little Alex had fallen on his Gulliver on more than one occasion, real Horrorshow like.

A few dabs of Quake Wax under each boot has kept him in place.

I've been pretty lucky, except for my Sideshow 8" Metaluna Mutant who has taken three shelf dives so far, stand and all. Damn his big, bulbous, heavy head!

Cats and collectibles are also not a great mix.
I speak from experience. Those feline monsters will wipe out your collection in no time.
Does Quake Wax work on cats?

When open up my "mego case" that happens on the top shelf sometimes. My Original Batman cowl fell who knows where and my otherwise original figure is now holding Doc mego replacement to make due.
