Italian Tracking Numbers

What is the point of these things? I've got two in the past year and while the first package showed up, it might as well have been "1234567" because I couldn't track anything ever.

I've got a new one and it's the same story, seller tells me it's shipped, I'm inclined to believe him but when I check on it. It doesn't work.

Has anybody had luck with these?

Maybe the PO there is complicit in the abundant dirty dealings

Not sure, but I remember reading that some of them south Europe countries were going to consolidate their post offices into one general one (Italy, Spain, France , etc)

If that happened it seems like there would be less of a change for dirty dealing because they'd have more people watching them.
