    Your Theme Song

I finally snagged a copy of what IS my personal anthem: "P.M.O." by Chris Caffery. This song (which I won't post lyrics for....) accurately sums up how I feel every minute of every day I'm conscious. Prior to that I would have said "Dr Bogdenbroom" by Jethro Tull. (Still a close second.) The guys I used to hang around always said "What is Eternal?" by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra would be my theme....

So have any of you guys ever found that perfect personal theme song?

A thought had just occured to me after my last post above. Does anyone here know who does the song with the lyrics in a newer commercial. The main lyrics goes something like "I want it all, I want it all, I want it all, and I want it now". That may be my new theme song if I can find out who does that one that would be great. Anyone know?

People say Im crazy doing what Im doing
Well they give me all kinds of warnings to save me from ruin
When I say that Im o.k. well they look at me kind of strange
Surely youre not happy now you no longer play the game

People say Im lazy dreaming my life away
Well they give me all kinds of advice designed to enlighten me
When I tell them that Im doing fine watching shadows on the wall
Dont you miss the big time boy youre no longer on the ball

Im just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go

Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion
Well I tell them theres no problem, only solutions
Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if Ive lost my mind
I tell them theres no hurry
Im just sitting here doing time

Im just sitting here watching the wheels go round and round
I really love to watch them roll
No longer riding on the merry-go-round
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go
I just had to let it go

Tough it out - Webb Wilder

when I was in the craddle
momma used to say "now baby
            don't ya cry cry cry"
            she turned on the radio
and fed me rock and roll
            I went bye bye bye
well it got under my skin
and man it pulled me in
'cause it was strong strong strong
            I hit the ground runnin'
and let me tell ya somethin'
            I was gone gone gone

            get offa my line
            'cause I'm comin' through
            I'm aimin' high
            and I'm willin' to shoot

            I won't bow, I wont bend
            I won't break, I'll tought it out
            I won't budge, I won't deal
            I won't change, I'll tough it out
(tough it out) Keep Rockin' (tough it out) No stoppin'
'Til I win the prize, I'll tough it out
(tough it out) straight ahead (tough it out) knock'em dead
no comprimise I'll tough it out

            Now I've got somethin'
            for ever man woman
            and child child child
            We don't leave the hall
'til they're bounin' off the walls
            goin' wild wild wild
            it might happen any day
            might be light years away
            I don't mind mind mind
we gotta head down, ears back,
            headed for the barn
            feelin' fine fine fine

            get offa my line
            'cause I'm comin' through
            I'm aimin' high
            and I'm willin' to shoot

            I won't bow, I wont bend
            I won't break, I'll tought it out
            I won't budge, I won't deal
            I won't change, I'll tough it out
(tough it out) Keep Rockin' (tough it out) No stoppin'
'Til I win the prize, I'll tough it out
(tough it out) straight ahead (tough it out) knock'em dead
no comprimise I'll tough it out

(Tough it out) (tought it out)

            you might catch me down
            but I won't stay caught
            now I might not sell
            but I can't be bought

            I won't bow, I wont bend
            I won't break, I'll tought it out
            I won't budge, I won't deal
            I won't change, I'll tough it out

            I won't break, I'll tought it out
            I won't budge, I won't deal
            I won't change, I'll tough it out

For some reason this always made me feel better:

              I've Had Enough

              You were under the impression
That when you were walking forward
              You'd end up further onward
But things ain't quite that simple.

              You got altered information
You were told to not take chances
You missed out on new dances
Now you're losing all your dimples.

My jacket's gonna be cut and slim and checked,
Maybe a touch of seersucker, with an open neck.
I ride a G S scooter with my hair cut neat,
Wear my wartime coat in the wind and sleet.

              Love Reign O'er Me.
              Love Reign O'er Me.
              Love.

              I've had enough of living
              I've had enough of dying
              I've had enough of smiling
              I've had enough of crying
I've taken all the high roads
              I've squandered and I've saved
              I've had enough of childhood
              I've had enough of graves...

Get a job and fight to keep it,
Strike out to reach a mountain.
Be so nice on the outside
              But inside keep ambition

Don't cry because you hunt them
Hurt them first they'll love you
              There's a millionaire above you
              And you're under his suspicion.

              I've had enough of dancehalls
              I've had enough of pills
              I've had enough of streetfights
I've seen my share of kills
              I'm finished with the fashions
              And acting like I'm tough
I'm bored with hate and passion
I've had enough of trying to love.
Don't be sorry. How would you know? You've been watching MTV all your life.

Although in my mind everywhere I walk I hear the Imperial March from Empire Strikes Back...it's just such a good tune to walk into a room to...the song that I always thought summed up how I feel was "Wouldn't it be Good" by Nik Kershaw...

                    I got it bad
you don't know how bad I got it.
                    You got it easy
you don't know when you've got it good.
                    It's getting harder
just keeping life and soul together

I'm sick of fighting even though I l Know I should.
The cold is biting through each and ev'ry nerve and fibre

My broken spirit is frozen to the core.
I don't want to be here no more.

Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one da:
And wouldn't it be good if we could wish ourselves away.
Wouldn't it be good to be on your side

The grass in always greener over there.
Wouldn't it be good if we could live without a care.

                    You must be joking
you don't know a thing about it.
                    You've got no problems
I'd stay right there if I were you.
                    I got it harder
you couldn't dream how hard I got it

Stay out of my shoes if you know what's good for you.
                    The heat is stifling
bun@ing me up from the inside.
The sweat is coming through each and ev'ry pore.
I don't want to be here no more. I don't want to be here no more.
I don't want to be here no more.
Wouldn't it be good to be in your shoes even if it was for just one day. . . .
I got it bad. you don't know how bad I got it. .. .

Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down" is a good anthem for me. I like Johnny Cash's version as well.

Speaking of Cash, his duet with Hank Williams Jr, "That Old Wheel" has become an anthem for me,
"That old wheel, is gonna roll around once more
When it does, it'll even up the score
Don't be weak, as they sow they will reap,
Turn the other cheek, and don't give in,
That old wheel will roll around again."

I don't think there is one song that matches me well enough to be an anthem. There are, however, several songs that really nail a particualr mood or part of my character.

Get a job and fight to keep it,
Strike out to reach a mountain.
Be so nice on the outside
                        But inside keep ambition

Don't cry because you hunt them
Hurt them first they'll love you
                        There's a millionaire above you
                        And you're under his suspicion.

                        I've had enough of dancehalls
                        I've had enough of pills
                        I've had enough of streetfights
I've seen my share of kills
                        I'm finished with the fashions
                        And acting like I'm tough
I'm bored with hate and passion
I've had enough of trying to love.

This is a song from an album that really spoke to me as a teen. I will say, however, this song always made feel more the confusion and frustration I felt as a kid. It was only the resolution at the end of the album that made this song OK for me.

Anyone know?

Who can turn the world on with his smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you Scott, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it

Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can have a town, why don't you take it

How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, Scott this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving
