It's been getting bashed by critics pretty hard. Of course, I rarely agree with them regarding movies, so who cares what they have to say? Hope you have a good time!

Rotten Tomatoes 17% for for critics out of 182 reviews. Audience 82% out of 27.544 reviews. Who are these critics and how do you get a job? Really imo they are just a wart on society's ***.

Yeah, I find I usually side with the audience review/rating than the critics.

I'm curious to see it but I'll probably wait till video. I agree with the old Michael Scott argument that what made Die Hard great in the beginning was that Mcclane as a wrong place/wrong time action hero. He wasn't the best cop, or the smartest (he couldn't find shoes for most of the movie and had zero clue what the terrorists were doing) He was the everyman action hero in a time the box office was giving us Rambo's and Terminators. The next two sequels held the character to that kind of hero but by the fourth film they had him jumping through a helicopter on a motorcycle and other impossible stunts. I'm betting part 5 is more of what 4 was. (Only this time RATED R!)

On a side note, ever notice that every film in the franchise has to top its former location in size..(Building, Airport, City, State(s), and now the entire country or Russia.) If they get around to a 6 maybe they can downsize it a bit and stick him on a cruise ship with some Somalian Pirates or something like that. It's not like that idea hasn't been used in a few decades by now. In the direction they're going maybe we see him in orbit the next time around.....It's really the only way the location can get any bigger "In Space No One Can Hear You Die Hard...."

and For Me..., Bullet to the Head, was Far better than Atleast 5to7 of Stallones Other Flicks. I liked that Movie, and His Character Quite aBit.

I'm definitely seeing DH and btw the 8 inch Armageddon figures in the space suits have perfect Bruce Willis head inside the helmet to make a John McClane DH1 Mego, just glue on a neck plug and you don't even have to paint it or anything.

I really wasn't trying to bring critics into it, I agree with you about them, that was what I was trying to say. Look at the huge discrepancy between what we the public think and the "critics" I have like all the die hard movies.

Die Hard 5 is a film for fans of the franchise, character and actor and action movie fans in general. It's not a film for critics, who frankly are looking for something new or something that transcends the norm. The very fact that it's a sequel gives it two strikes in a critic's scorecard going in.

The public can be fickle, too. Just because the theatre-attending public doesn't appreciate a film doesn't make it bad. Think of how many movies become very popular once they hit DVD/on-demand and begin to be played to death on movie channels.

I like Willis and the Die Hard movies and I enjoyed DH5 because it delivered basically what I expected. I wouldn't consider it a great movie, but it was great fun.

I wouldn't argue with anyone who would label Lincoln or Zero Dark Thirty as better films than DH5, but I had more fun watching DH5 and felt happier and in a better mood when I left the theater. To me that counts for something.
