Soon To Be Another Childhood Memory- The Polaroid Picture

The Polaroid company has announced it will stop making the instant Polaroid picture. I remember sitting around, waiting to watch the "instant" picture develop when I was a kid thinking how cool it was. I have a polaroid camera, but I stopped buying the film because it has become way too expensive. Digital technology just makes it even easier to instantly see pics.

Polaroids were always good for photographing you and your favourite celeb and having them sign it right on the spot.
No new technology will ever beat a Polaroid for that purpose.

I used to make Mego photo stories with my grandfather's polaroid. Wish I still had those.

I read there is a new printer soon to be out, that will be small enough for you to carry and to instantly print your digital pictures. Of course the poloroid had the advantage of everything in one device.

Think B.A. Where did you hide the Megos?

Tellagrams and instant photos both very important in there time now gone.

Funny thing happened the other day, I had a 20 year old over my house and she had no idea how to use a rotory phone. ( I have a antique pay phone another item that is going out)

Man I remember when we got an Insta-Matic camera. We took photos all over the place! I loved watching them develop. But they always seem to whitewash people's faces. I'm sorry to see it go. It was cooler than cool at family gatherings.

I wish I had a rotary phone. But of course w/ a cable phone connection, I couldn't use it.

you know I've never used a rotary phone before my aunt use to have one and I use to just mess around with it.So I might not know how to use one either

My mom used to have this weird Polaroid camera...
She took all our pictures with it (back in the 60's)
I remember is being light green and it folded in and out like an accordion

Yeah, that does suck. My parents had one. It was an off white color(or mayby be faded) with a rainbow colored strip down the middle of it, very 70's in color. I have alot of pics from that camera from back in the day....Sad it wont be around anymore. I guess digital has totally taken over now....Oh well, different times....

Yeah but how many people around the world take an instant picture of a celebrity, have them not only cooporate with you hassling them for the picture itself, but also sign it on the spot?

I think it's safe to say that's a very small group.

I never liked Polaroids, crappy quality photos...I'm a 35mm man (and now digital as well of course).

I saved up for one of those when I was a kid. I still think the concept is pretty cool, even in this day and age. A salute to Polaroid.
