    T.V. Show Nights..

I was talking with some friends my age and older about this the other night. Do you remember when you were younger when you based the days off of what what was coming on t.v. at night or even in the day? I did. I don't do it in my adult years mainly due to the fact that I can record anything and watch it later. We had a vcr back then but I always recorded it when I watched something. To this day on saturdays I automatically think saturday morning cartoons, thursday night I always think of the Cosby Show and Cheers.
Weird question I know but does or did anyone else every do this?

I think Tuesdays were Family Ties night, IIRC. Didn't miss it for anything. There were a lot of shows that I made sure to be home for when they came on, because we didn't have VHS when I was a kid and if you missed it, you missed it.

Now, on Saturdays I try to catch Sabadazo on Univision if I can. That's like the equivalent of Saturday morning cartoons for me. The crap part is, I don't know if the show's actually any good, because I don't speak Spanish. I find it incredibly compelling, though: mariachi bands, rappers, comedians, clowns, dudes in gorilla and/or mascot suits, celebrities, and drop dead gorgeous girls.

I seem to remember Friday was Incredible Hulk, Dukes Of Hazzard, Dallas, and Friday Night Videos.

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I still do this. I have my Friday nights, ala ABC early 70s, w/ Brady Bunch, Partridge Family and Love American Style. And of course I have my Saturday morning cartoons, w/ Schoolhouse Rock and commercials sprinkled in. I do miss the anticipation of the old days though. Especially if there was a cliffhanger! You had to wait a WHOLE WEEK to see what would happen on the next episode. And of course, there was the talk in school about some shows, and boy did you feel dumb if you missed it! No VCRs, DVD, BluRays, cable or satellite. Just 3 networks, some syndication and public television. Ahhh...the good ole days.

That's right! Like Spawn67 said, it was on right after The Cosby Show! That was a pretty awesome night for TV.

I still do this with the really good special shows. Some shows I just HAVE to watch live. I just have to.
Walking Dead, Falling Skies, Sons of Anarchy, first season of American Horror, Hell on Wheels. I prefer Warehouse 13 live too, but it's good next morning with coffee too.
I can trace it all the way back to. I'd do it with Buffy, Angel, Farscape, Brisco County Jr. I HAAAD to cook popcorn for that one each and every time. MSTK was a popcorn show too.

As a kid I very vaguely remember having to watch live Automan, The Flash, Greatest American Hero, Battleshar Galactica, and I had my Saturday mornings very technically mapped out.
Of course, if you missed an episode back then you could catch it in the 'rerun season'. Certainly can't to that anymore!

I didnt go anywhere on Friday and Saturday nights during the '80s and some of the '90s. Friday night videos, Night Tracks, TGIF, Tales from the crypt, V, rented movies, and video games were my social life.

Saturday mornings I couldnt be pulled away from cartoons.......other than cut the grass

These days, it's Me-TV on Saturday nights! Batman, Lost In Space, Star Trek and Svengoolie. I'm usually too tired to see Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, (but I hace most of them on tape, anyway).

I remember Happy Days was always on Tuesday on ABC, Hulk and the Dukes of Hazzard were on Fridays on CBS. When the Hulk got cancelled, Dallas got bumped up to 9 and Falcon Crest came in at 10. My mom and sister watched those two.

I remember weekends at my grandparents cause my grandmother had to watch The Love Boat, Fantasy Island and Dallas and later on the 80's the golden girls. Saturday Mornings the T.V. (a old t.v. that took about 5 min to start due to the color adjusting) was all mine saturday morning cartoons and wrestling!
