    New Age/Techno music

    Anybody a fan?

I'm a big time follower of this genre of music.

From the likes of Andreas Vollenweider, Enya, Patrick O'Hearn, Jean Michele Jarre, Tangerine Dream, Manheim Steamroller, early Yanni (not his current sappy stuff), Kitaro, Vangelis, to the late Michael Hedges.

I especially loved Michael hedges, he was a true talent, too bad he died in a car crash near San Francisco in his early 40s.

Here's a sample of his stuff:

I liked Depeche Mode. Does that count?

I have a couple of cds by Andreas Vollenweider, Enya, Jean Michele Jarre, Kitaro, and a few others. I really joy listening to a cd by Harold Budd and Brian Eno titled "Ambient 2: The Plateaux of Mirrors". Not sure if ambient music falls under the same genre as new age but I would put them together.

Add Adiemus, Clannad, Deep Forest, Enigma and Delerium and I'm in! If you don't have them in your CD collection you might want to pick up the Pure Moods compilation CDs. I believe there are 5 or 6 of them now. They are excellent samples of Technofied New Age/World Music.

Does this count as new age? It's one of my favorite CDs...

It's the only kind of opera my kids are patient enough to listen to. They hate the other arias that I love to listen to (the non-techno kind but still beautiful to me nonetheless).

Listen to some samples of Jean Michel Jarre:

                Amazon.com: Rendez-Vous: Music: Jean-Michel Jarre

                Very Euro/Sci-Fi...ish.

                I think he rules.

I've dabbled in some Andreas Vollenweider, Tangerine Dream, Vangelis earcandy. Grew up listening to Vollenweider from me dads. I have the Triology and love it. I love the soundtrack to Risky Business and 3 O'Clock High. Mostly the Tangerine Dream material and have them both on CD. Also love the soundtrack to Blade Runner.
How about Kraftwerk and Silver Apples? Or Michael Brooke?, Pieter Nooten, John Zorn, John Cage? Yeah, I know, minimalism but still like that music. Or Main? Really great band that did soundscapes.
Silver Apples were the founders of electronic music. Amazing seeing them still play live considering they originated in the late 60's.
                      I think I'm digressing. Sorry.

A lot of the aforemention bands have been showcased.

Depends on where you shop. I know that Ambient is it's own genre. Love Harold Budd and Eno. Did you check out the Cocteau Twins with Harold Budd called The Moon and the Melodies. Simply beautiful.
Also, I would recommend some of Robin Guthrie's solo material. He recently did a project with Harold Budd that was more a visual performance. Basically taking obscure black and white films from the 20's and playing live music to them. I think it was called Mysterious Skin. They showcased it here in 2005 at SIFF. Amazing peformance. I think they collaborated on more projects and released them last year.

The nearest I have is my collection is along the Tangerine Dream line.

I got into what is generally labeled as Krautrock (German rock from the late 60s into the 70s)
Bands such as Neu, Cosmic Jokers, Amon Duul II, Ash Ra Temple, Faust, Sergius Golowin, Klaus Schulze, Kraftwerk all grace my CD collection.
Some of it quite hard work to listen to as it is quite experimental in places but give it a chance and it opens your ears to a whole new (old) genre of music.
"I should say I`m very much cleverer than any of the people who put me here. As a matter of fact, I could leave any time I wanted. It`s only a doll`s house after all. Anyway, I don`t mind. I like dolls" - The Mad Hatter, Arkham Asylum.

I'm listening to the Sea Swallow Me From The Moon and the Melodies on YouTube. Sounds nice.

                              Miguet,

                              Amazing isn't it?

Here is a vid I found of a Michael Brook song featuring Lisa Germano.
                              Very dream pop sounding.

Michael Brook is the inventor of the infinite guitar. Most of you know the sound when you hear and no it's a keyboard but a guitar with an ebow on each string. Love that sound.

CAN and NEU are really ahead of their time.

I apologize for digressing again. I know this is a topic of New Age and Electronic Music.
                              (Does fall under Electronic)
