Marino was indeed one of the best, I just loved his quick release, too bad he didn't have a great D to win the big one, but he was a great QB. And no, I don't care who he banged on the side, none of my concern or business, lol.

Enjoy them for the talent they brought or still bring and not their personal lives.

How many of us can look in the mirror every day and say we are perfect?

Schwarzenegger has a 'love child'... so who cares? I still love his movies and talent he brings.
Nothing like a "Drive by poster" who reads one sentence in a post then formulates a response. The title of the thread is: Childhood Hero vs Reality. All of the heros I had were human. My grandfather killed people. John Lennon used drugs and cheated on both of his wives, Arnold used drugs and cheated on his wife. That is thier reality. I posted what made each of them HEROIC in my eyes and then what made them human in my eyes.
If you read what I posted, I mean really read what I posted, you may have noticed...wait for it...THE BAD STUFF IS NOT WHY THEY WERE MY HERO'S. If you also READ what I posted, the reason I chose Arnold as my hero had nothing to do with a stupid movie(although they are really cool). It had to do with who he was, how strong he was as a man on the inside. He came here unable to speak english and became govenor. HERO.

Well, I've been blessed enough to meet some of my childhood heroes, and they (w/ the exception of Lou Ferrigno), have all been really nice to me.

I'm the same, I don't care what a celebrity does when he's off screen or off the field... their personal life means nothing to me, I don't know them, I don't
care. I'm concerned about the people I come in contact or talk to everyday.

I'm chilled bro. Just hard not ot take offence being I was the only person to mention Arnold before your drive by post. But you are right about one thing, it is just a discussion in a thread. I just dont happen to agree with you, but I still like you.

Being in the convention business for the past 15 years has taught me to temper my expectations (and perceptions) of what I should think of ANY public figure. It's SO easy to forget these folks have their public personalities "on" when they're in front of a camera. And we as spectators/fans want to think these faces are how they are in more candid moments. Seldom is that true. And in the convention business it's even more erratic. It can be a very toxic environment for both the celebrity and the fan depending on the repertoire the two are having that day. Working behind those scenes you see even more of them and it's my experience that the less you talk about them as stars, the more they like you. Celebs love having someone who can just talk to them like a normal Joe. You can do the shop talk, but it's best to keep it about film or television in general rather than career specific. So every year, I just hope we get people who are not having a "bad day". I never let meeting them become personal anymore. You wouldn't do that to a total stranger, so that should apply to celebrities as well. We don't know them, even though we might think we should because we've seen them on television or in film.
