"It was the Best of Times. It was the worst of Times"

I'm moving and I'm very excited but stressed at the same time.....what's the biggest move you made(geographically) and what helps with stress....I make time for the gym and the kick I get from weights and cardio is amazing!

Prior to my current station in life, moving was always a snap. If it didn't fit in the trunk of the car it stayed behind.

Ah, the days of single living

It helps if you go somewhere you like. Also a bonus if you enjoy sorting thru things you have not seen in ten or more years.

We're in the process of trying to sell our house. We have a contract on a different house, but we have to sell ours first.

The thought of moving all of our stuff is daunting...but I think it will be worth it if it goes through. We've been cleaning out and streamlining to show the house, and we my poor mother-in-law's storage building is now full of enough stuff to open a flea market.

This will be our biggest move, if it goes through. When we bought our current (first) house, we moved in from apartments, and slowly moved in stuff stored at our parents' homes. I thought THAT was tough...

        Good luck on your move!!!

This sounds familiar. Anyone looking to buy a house near Hershey, PA?

Moving actually wasn't the biggest problem for us. The house we are buying was furnished so we didn't have to move much furniture, and nothing very large like couches and stuff. We had a local auction house come and pick up all of that stuff (and had to laugh when we got the check. All of our stuff and I almost wanted to send the check back it was such a joke). Our big hassle was cleaning out the old house and remodeling the areas that needed it. It was a stressful 2-3 weeks and, had it gone on any longer, I would have cracked. I know I don't want to go through it again. But it was worth it in the end. Well worth it. Good luck to you.

I wish I could have finished my finish out in only 2-3 weeks. We are still working on our house long distance and I still need to clean out the barn. Anybody want to buy a house near Austin tx?

Moved my wife from NE PA (near Wilkes Barre) to Northern IL. I drove one very fully loaded 17 foot Ryder truck through all the mountains in a snow/ice storm. Saw cars and semis in the ditches. The Ryder was so packed full that I was holding all the stuff back with one hand while pulling down the rear door with the other. Not one of most favorite memories but it was still well worth the effort.

Best way to get through it is get yourself sh__faced before, during and at least a month after the move.

Maybe that's why I can't find the box with my socks in it.

Hell Yea it does!!! And I am only moving from Upstairs in my house to Downstairs... Moving is A WAKE UP CALL to how much stuff you have accumulated and don't really realize it.

Naturally my curio and Mego's were the first things moved Downstairs.

                      Priorities right? lol

Naw, just moving a few miles from our current house. It's a bit closer to town, in a subdivision, but still out in the country. We live out in the country, but on a highway, so my kids can't really get out and ride bikes, etc. They should be able to at the new place, if we get it.

Well moved myself and my son from a 1 bedroom apartment into a 4 bedroom house over the summer. It was only 20 miles away but between getting the house ready (painting, floors, plumbing, electric, upgrades for cable) and the actual moving and unpacking took every bit from the end of May to the end of August and I feel I'm still not done. It's extremely stressful to begin with but once my parents got involved and critiqued and questioned just about everything I did, I found that hard drugs and liquor helped best to cope the move.

Moved from British Columbia to Winnipeg,Manitoba 19 years ago.The equivalent of moving from Seattle Washington to Minneapolis,Minnesota.
                            Was not fun at all.

I have criss-crossed the country and even when I'm situated in one state, still end up moving to a new place after a few years. It's engrained. I actually feel the bug coming on...

Sell as much crap as possible. Use Craigslist secondary, and do not list any personal info, such as "hey, I'm moving...". You'll be ransacked the first hour you're gone.

Make four stations - Keep. Sell. Donate. Toss. Nothing goes outside those groups.

In the donate pile, put your figures. I'll send my address later.
