    eBay search glitch

I currently have two items for sale on ebay (auctions started 3 days ago), but only one is actually showing up to buyers. It doesn't show up with a title keyword search, as well as when you click on "seller's other items". So it might as well be invisible. The only way that I can see that it exists is it I go into my ebay and look at all selling.

There's discussion about the problem on the ebay community forums.. ebay's response has been, "we are aware of the problem". They refer the problem to their IT dept.

In the meantime, no solution or recommendation. I guess I should just end the auction, even tho it has a few days to go? What's the point if no buyer can find it?

Check your listings if you're selling. Make sure everything's showing up.

It's so f-ed up.. when I look at my items for sale, there's only one listing. Then I hit refresh, and the 2nd item shows up. Then when I go back a few minutes later, it's gone again. Hit refresh again, still only the one item. Same for search, it keeps appearing and disappearing..

I was going to list today but maybe I will just wait then. What a waste of time if your stuff doesn't show up.

DON'T end your item early. Unless you want to pay, as ebay charges a fee for that now. They say it's because they don't want watchers to get 'disappointed'.
To avoid fees, you should let it run the full time. Sucks though.

Have you tried editing the title, maybe rearranging the words, and saving it to see if that fixes it? (it takes awhile after editing to re-appear in searches tho, so it wouldn't be instantaneous).

I've had that happen on occasion in the past, so it's not a new problem. Just comes and goes.

Yep, I made a minor description revision yesterday, and it's been fine ever since. I "lost" about 3 days worth of a 7 day auction, but it's just a collection of books, and I doubt they were gonna sell anyway..

            Thanks..

It's ok to end early as long as you have at least 12 hours left and there are no bids. You wont be charged in that case. However, I wouldn't do this unless you made a mistake or something.

I've had this problem for years. However, when I ask a friend to search my listing, they can see it. It's why I've gone almost strictly BIN. I'm not risking a .99 start if there's even a slight possibility that my auction audience is limited. Also, as mentioned already, ebay only charges a fee to end auctions if a bid has been placed. You can end any other auctions as much as you like. I do think ebay still charges the listing fee and if you re-list, charges another listing fee. I use Auctiva and just pay a flat monthly rate so I don't think that it effects me.

You may be charged a fee when ending an auction early as was mentioned. Here is the exact policy info on it from eBay's site just so everyone is aware as this was a somewhat recent change. Basically in most cases IF you have one or more bids and end an auction early (with no sale) then you will be charged a fee. Same goes if you cancel the bids first then end it.

                  Fees

Ending an auction-style listing early once it has received a bid can lead to disappointed and frustrated buyers who may be less likely to bid on listings the next time around, so you may be charged a fee if you end a listing early. This fee is equal to the final value fee (not including shipping charges) you would have paid if the listing had ended on its own and sold for the highest bid received when the seller ended the listing.

This fee is charged if you cancel bids and end an auction-style listing early without a buyer.

This fee isn't charged if you end an auction-style listing early and sell to the high bidder. (In this case, final value fees apply.)

This fee doesn't apply to listings in the Real Estate and eBay Motors vehicle categories, and the Classified Ads selling format.

Because we understand that sometimes it may be necessary to end a listing early, you won't be charged a fee for the first auction-style listing you end early (where a fee applies) per calendar year (January 1 to December 31).
