    The Manti Teo debacle

I've read through this a couple of times and I still don't get it. The truth will come out, but it appears he faked having a girlfriend who died of leukemia. He was all over the media telling inspirational stories about her and now it comes out she didn't exist? I was a major supporter of him before this. This leads to all sorts of questions and thoughts:

    1. How can anyone be stupid enough to fall of this if it was a hoax? WHo the hell was he talking to on the phone every night all night. That's a dedicated prankster.

    2. What kind of boyfriend could he have been? He didn't even visit her after her major car crash or to see her in her Leukemia battle. He didn't even attend the funeral. He instead played ball.

    3. Given his background, are we going to find out there are seven other imaginary girlfriends?

    4. Has his NFL draft stock fallen faster than his imaginary girlfriend's T-cell count?

It's only January, and this will go down as the strangest sports story of 2013. I still can't wrap my mind around such a stunt. All evidence indicates he was involved in the hoax. If so, he deserves every bit of humiliaiton and embarrassment he gets from every media source. Read the entire article. It's long but very insightful.

I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she dumped me before we met.

If anyone here believes in psychokinesis, please raise my hand.

I know he was the Heisman Trophy runner up, but all this coverage for a linebacker who is going to be too slow for NFL pass coverages, well, I just don't see why this is news worthy, lol.

I think there is a lot more to the story. He probably got reeled in in the beginning by a hoax, but kept it going out of pride/embarrassment when he realized it wasn't true.

Don't forget, this is a 21 year old kid. He's not in his mid-40's like the rest of us. 21 year old kids handle life VERY differently than we do. They don't have the years of mistakes and goof-ups to
look back on that we do.

Jan Brady had this problem with the "George Glass" incident.... Just come clean and then Go away....

If he ever makes the pros, NFL fans will tear him up every where he goes, especially if he was in on it....

This is a very bizarre story. Very hard to figure out what the motive is here. Was it sympathy to get a Heisman votes? Is it possible this was made up because he has no interest in woman, and a " long distance girlfriend " can disguise that. Maybe he is in the closet, and this was a beard? Not that there is anything wrong with that....
Liars keep digging bigger holes to cover up something and before you know it, things are way out of control.
              Again very bizarre

That is *his* explanation, but I'm not sure it adds up. How do you explain the times when Teo or his father described an in person meeting?

I have heard all kinds of theories ranging from "he is gay" to "a ploy to get Heisman votes"... I'm not ready to jump to conclusions like that. I'm just saying the "elaborate hoax" explanation seems tough to reconcile with the fact we know.

It fell before this even started with the way he played in the BCS Title game.
