    Ma & Pa Kettle?

Most of us here have an interest in older stuff. Based on your recommendations and posts here, I've grown to appreciate things I hadn't previously heard of (Gerry Anderson's UFO, f.ex.) or given a fair chance (Universal monster movies). My question is, if you have seen them, are the Ma and Pa Kettle movies any good? I've heard about them for thirty years, but I've never seen one.

In a cgi world many people wouldn't give Ma and Pa Kettle a second look but it would be their loss. Whenever the show up on channels like TCM I love to watch. They are really fun. Give them a chance. JOHN

I liked the first one the best (first appearance). It reminded me of Green Acres. And they were just supporting characters.

Another good matinee series to watch from beginning to end are the "Blondie!" movies from the early 1930's - 1940's. They defined the those newspaper characters as a real american family. And times really haven't changed a whole lot meaning allot of the stuff is very relavant. Of course they beat up classic antique cars and don't have facebook. But you get the picture. (You may also notice that Blondie actress Penny Singleton is also the voice of Jane Jetson). But check them all out. There's allot of good classic stuff out there to be discovered.

I agree with the other comments. It's worth watching at least one Ma & Pa Kettle to see if you like the series. I'll also agree that Blondie is a good series, though I haven't thought about that one in a while.

I saw a ten movie Ma & Pa Kettle set the other day at the store for $9.99 and was wondering about it, so I went back to get it based on your recommendations. I really like them, so far (I've only watched The Egg and I and the first Ma & Pa movie). I'm glad to have finally given them a chance. I'll also check out Blondie in a couple weeks. Thanks, guys!

Ma and Pa Kettle are classic stuff they made a lot of money for Universal. Good fun! Marjorie Main alone is worth buying it she is flat out hysterical.....she's Know to Abbott and Costello fans for her role as the Widow Hawkins in The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap.
