How Many Times Have You Bought The Same Thing Twice?

I can't be the only one who's pulled this bonehead move. You come across something and decide you must have it. You get it home only to realize... POOP! I already own that!

I saw a book in a collectibles store I remembered having as a kid- Jules Feiffer's "The Great Comic Book Heroes." It was the same hard cover edition I had with the same bright dust cover. When I went to put it on my book shelf I saw the same edition looking back at me. It was simply that I hadn't looked at it since I was kid. My older one was a bit more beat up and had no dust cover, so I guess I can look at it as an upgrade

It's happening a lot more since 40. Last October i bought the Crestwood House Creature from the Black Lagoon book, Oh man, I got so excited to open it. Showed my kids and went to put it on the bookshelp and yeah, boom, there it already was.

I do that quite often, especially with books. Usually though, I'm happy to find I've found a better copy, like you said an upgrade.

If I don't have my spreadsheet I'm bound to pick up duplicate comics. Have done it three or four times now. I just give the extras to my nephew.

I did it recently with the Defenders Essentials 3. Looked through it and couldn't remember reading it but when I got home there it was.

I've done this frequently with books--I'm always forgetting which Bantam Doc Savage reprints I have.

Not that often, but oddly enough just last night I couldn't find a DVD. I knew I had bought it before, but it was nowhere to be found in my DVDs. I went over each one for a long time. No dice.

Went on Amazon to buy a new one. Then just by luck, looked over at the DVD shelves by chance, and there it was. How I missed it the other 15 times I looked over the DVDs, I don't know. But I was THAT close to ordering a copy of a DVD that was 3 feet away from me.

I've done it with my comics before myself. Around 4 or 5 times. Oops. Now I carry around a computer print out of my want list(s) in a blue binder with me to conventions/the comic shop.

Happens to me more than I'd like when buying back issue comics. The worst part? I have "need" list designed to combat this very thing, but sometimes I forget to cross things off!

So one time I bought jersey on ebay and after it came I decided I didn't like the way it fit but too much time passed for me to do anything with the seller so I listed it myself. Some guy bought it, left me positive feedback and that was the end of it. About two months later I was still looking for the same jersey. When I finally found one I was able to win it but when it came it was the exact same jersey I had sold a few months back. I guess the other guy didn't like the way it fit either, listed it, sold it to someone else who didn't like it and listed it again, and then sold it back to me. It has all the makings of a 21st century Seinfeld episode. Also makes me what else is perpetually floating around on ebay. It's mostly toys it bet...

I own two copies of Attack of the Clones and Schoolhouse Rock on DVD, and I used to do it a lot with books and comics.

I don't think I ever had, but I've had to think really hard when out g-saling sometimes. At least not with toys. I DOES happen more frequently with DVDs.

I'm waaaay to much of a databaser freak for that to happen (often). In fact, part of the fun of the toy is finding out every tiny thing about it I can once I get it home. And how many more of the series I must have.

I'm not claiming to have the best memory in the world, far from it, but at least I seem to have a pretty good handle on what I already own as far as toys, books, comics, DVDs and CDs go, I've never re-bought one accidentally...yet.

A couple of times. I bought a Hardy Boys t-shirt from Ebay, only to realize I already had it. Then once I bought a Battlestar Galatica comic novel from a used book store. Then I bought 3 Marvel Battlestar Galatica comic books, only to find out they were the same thing!
