My Grandfather fought in WW 1. He passed away before I was born
Was he lost in the War ?
Both My Grandfathers fought in World War 2 as well. My Dad broke the cycle when he did not go to the Vietnam War. He wanted to go so desperatly for some reason, & still talks about it. I think it had something to our family history in serving during War Time. However he was a Mechanic , that worked on the F-14's & other fighter jets, & that was not needed there.

No, he survived the war. However, from what I can piece together he had alot of health issues after the war. So, I'm sure he had been exposed to the gas agents used over there
We're losing Our WW2 Vet's rapidly...naturally of course, due the Their age brackett. My Dad fought in WW2 in the South Paciffic...on a Naval Destroyer(Fletcher Class). He was a Gun Captain(Gunners Mate 2nd Class). He's gone now.

My Uncles all fought in WW II Only a few are left. My Dad was drafted into the airforce at the end of the war. He was there during the Berlin airlift.
He fought in the trenches over in the Ardennes Forest and was also exposed to Mustard Gas and came back a permanantly disabled veteran.
He died in 1976, and was 80 years old. I was about 7 or 8 so I do have memories of him. I guess he'd also be 107 or 108 if he were alive today but after hearing about the amount of damage his lungs took during the war, I was surprised he lived that long.
My father fought in the Korean War and was basically right on the front lines. He was drafted into the Army but served with a unit attached to the Air Force (apparently the Air Force at the time was only made up of pilots without any of the manpower to support a military branch). He never spoke much about what he saw and I remember whenever I would ask him questions, he would always respond that he didn't remember.
He died about 14 years ago and I have heard all kinds of stories from my mom and uncles about him almost getting picked off by snipers a couple of times and a grenade attack that hit the barracks right next to his so it's amazing that he even came out of there alive.
