    My "special" Christmas gift

It seems my MIL knew more than a week ago that she had shingles and never told us about it because she didn't want to postpone Christmas. So she went about her life as if nothing was wrong, which included visiting our house. The result? Here I sit at 42 years old with Chicken Pox because I only had a mild case as a child and never developed an immunity. On a good note, my doctor thinks I should have some immunity and my case may end up not being very bad. Fingers crossed hoping that she is right.

My sister's had shingles a couple times, and one time we were all together with my infant daughter. We didn't know until later, and it really ****ed off my wife and I. Our kid had been immunized, but you never know with chicken pox. I don't think every one realizes the connection between the two, and that it's contagious.

wow -- I know shingles is from chicken pox, but I didn't know you could get chicken pox from someone with Shingles.

                    hope your case is mild.

Hope it clears up soon, and that her actions were out of ignorance. I honestly never knew of the connection until it was mentioned in this thread. I had chicken pox in the 70s and haven't give it any thought since.

I am in danger of getting it as well, because I had a mild case of the pox as an infant
