If the end of the world is tomorrow...

You can find me in a movie theatre, I've booked seats for The Hobbit, and my cell phone will be turned off.
So no Mount Doom when I come out, OK?

Btw, will Doom be coming at any time of that day, or just at the stroke of midnight, or what?
I'd like to have dinner afterwards, and I'd put that on my VISA card...

That's the problem I have with these predictions. They don't take into account that in some parts of the world,it's already the day this stuff is suppose to happen.

Like Schwarzenegger in End of Days.
When someones pinpoints the exact hour when the world will end, Arnie asks "Is that West Coast or East Coast?"

I'd go out and pay $14.99 for a 2013 calander

From what I've seen, most of the fools who started this movement (or whatever you'd call it) already hedged their bets long ago saying things like 'it's actually the end of a spiritual cycle'.

The Mayan long calendar doesn't end. It's a calendar - it goes in cycles like every other calendar. And even if the Mayans DID predict the end of the world - why on earth would anyone think that the ideas of a pre-sciene culture like that would know more than what we know now?

It really angers me that such a silly interpretation of historical facts could be twisted so much and become so widespread.

I especially feel bad for little kids who have to have dumb and uncomfortable ideas like this in the back of their minds.

Christmas is after the 21st, so the gifts are a waste. Return them and go get your "Lady of the Night"!

Unreal. Reading that 33 schools in Michigan will be closed due to the fact that this prediction is too much of a distraction.

                    Incredible.

It's really amazing that incorrect facts presented by people with no qualifications and a history of making incorrect end-of-the-world predictions could make any impact at all. The people of Earth need to start growing up.

The Mayans could not have predicted stuff like leap years and daylight savings. If you factor that into the grand equation its actually June of 2013 right now.

I'll be glad when the 21st has come and gone. I've heard of this crap for years, and as Brazoo said, it's not correct, from a historical and cultural aspect.

That stupid movie a few years back really put the date out there. John Cussack should have known better!

2018. The prediction is based on some other dudes failed prediction from 1988. Apparently this new guy thinks the other guy got the math wrong.

Wikipedia has a nice list of the big ones from the past and future:
