    SNL christmas episode

I was really looking forward to seeing Martin Short host, and there were a few funny scenes, in particular the final sketch with Paul McCartney, but what the heck was up with the choices for songs by McCartney? A snoozer about Valentines (?) and the screaming one that I understood not a word of. Kinda glad he didn't retread 'Let It Be' again, but jeez, a couple holiday songs would have been nice.
A little more Ed Grimley was what I was hoping for, but instead he went with the albino jackie jr. He did do a little Ed bit in the monolouge though, I must say!

And did Samuel L. Jackson really drop the F-bomb?

He did Wonderful Christmastime at the end. The second song had Nirvana backing him up.
    Fresh, not from concentrate.

I don't know what Paul did to himself but he looks a lot better now compared to 10 years ago when he was Angela Landsburys double.

Did he get a facelift ?

Both songs he sung was from the 12-12-12 concert. The last one was of course a Christmas one, and one my all time favorites so it was a nice surprice.

And yes, I do believe Samuel L. "Mother ****ing" Jackson did indeed say "Mother ****er" though the closed-captions chose to write "Mother Farter."

I really liked Martin Short's energy and enthusiasm. So few guest hosts come across as that, it's like to them an obligation to show up and plug their new movie or whatever. It wasn't a great episode as the skits weren't great, but it wasn't the performer's fault. I agree, I don't understand P.M.'s choice of music. I'm aware he has a new album, but he should have stayed with the hits and did Christmas songs and nothing else because I doubt old fans liked the new crap he was yelling and I doubt young viewers are interested in it either.

Haven't seen the episode yet, but re: McCartney's song choices.
I always enjoy whatever he does as I'm a fan, but always amused how people get on him for whatever he does. Either "what's with all this new crap. play Beatles!" or "what's wth all this old stuff? Play something from the last decade!".

Not jumping on anyone's opinion, just saying he really can't win sometimes.

Saw him live at Citifield a couple years back, so I've see him do most of what he does in his current set. Still fun for me (and him. I'd assume)

Sounds like he did the "Nirvana" thing - which to me (as a musician) is cool, but I can see how it's not everyone's cup o' tea.
I actually like "My Valentine" which is fairly recent for him
And "wonderful christmastime" was a good choice to end with.

I'm not a big fan of Paul's newer stuff (anything after 1990-ish) but I have to admit I kinda like the Valentine song.

                  It seems kinda early Wings-ish
