Does anybody else miss Hostess and Drakes ?

My little treat to myself has always been their orange cup cakes.

I haven't eaten them in a long time, but every once in awhile, I would buy some Hostess cupcakes. They really didn't taste the same 'cos the took out the trans fat that was the secret to its fudgy goodness. I haven't had Drakes since I left NYC.

Just an FYI, while Hostess/Drakes's the copy cat products are still out there. Twinkies replacements are in the hardest to find. But if you have a 7-11 in your area they are now stocking chocolate/orange cupcakes (duplicated down the swirl) and Entemann's Fruit Pies which are actually better than what the Hostess ones had turned into.

I saw at the store the other day Little Debbie is making cupcakes that looks just like Hostess ones. Never noticed them before, don't know if they are new or not.

I'm finding TastyKakes in Target in central Ohio, which is looong overdue. Anyway, my recent treat is to take a Jelly Krimpet (which is pretty low fat) and smearing a little peanut butter on top. It's just freaking marvelous.

Try putting it in the microwave for 8 or 10 seconds, they are ammmmmmaaaaaaazzzziiiiiinnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg when they are warm! Never thought to add peanut butter, that would put them over the top!
