Mikey - what are you doing to me?! Now I'm looking this up!
UPDATE: I can't find anything confirming that story.
The closest thing I found was an article about how Canada (and other Commonwealth nations) were going to update their laws to allow the first born to be recognized as a monarch - whether it's a boy or girl. And there doesn't seem to be any controversy about the update to the law:

CNN, NBC Nightly News, Entertainment Tonight and even our own local news station. They all talked about her maybe having twins, how much weight she will gain and the odds on names if a boy or girl. Not to mention compareing it to when Diana was expecting. Really?Last edited by ScottA; Dec 5, '12, 1:08 PM.sigpic WANTED: Boxed, Carded and Kresge Carded WGSHComment

I'm not doubting you - it sounded like the kind of crazy thing CNN would try to make sound like a controversy to fill 24 hours.
I did find a Wikipedia article that confirms what you were saying though:
Amazingly there are people who were debating this issue as recently as 2007 (as a Charter of Rights and Freedoms issue - which is basically a human rights thing). I still can't imagine many people in Canada would want to drop out of the commonwealth for this reason - or even seriously debate the issue.Comment

I could not care less about the whole thing. My wife, on the other hand, wants to talk about it ALL THE TIME. I don't know how many more polite ways I can say it before I bust out the old, "I don't give a flying [fudge] about it."Comment
