I'm goin under the knife tomorrow

Well thanks to 3 of my 4 grandparents being diabetic and handing it down to me (Gee Thanks!!!) and my pills no longer controlling mine, I'm having lap band surgery tomorrow in an attempt to stay off insulin injections. Basically it's like gastric bypass but instead of cutting your stomach they put an adjustable band around the top to get the same results. The band is adjusted by filling a port that is placed just under your skin with a needle full of saline solution. My wife had it in August to lose the weight she put on when my boys (twins) and my daughter were born. She put on like 70 for the boys and never dropped a pound and another 25 or 30 with my daughter and she never could get it off and keep it off. After years of up and down weight loss and gain she said enough and has lost 63 pounds since August. One overnight and I should be home on Thursday and could be back at work on Monday if the pain is not bad,(can't drive on the pain meds so no hour commute for me if it still hurts). My doctor has been pushing me toward this for years and says I may not even need pills for sugar if I can drop what my wife has so hopefully this solves that problem. Well gotta stop at McDonald's on the way to the Country Buffet before I get home to go out and eat supper with my family in one last minute splurge of eating. Just kiddin! Talk to ya all when I'm not comatose from pain drugs.

I will be thinking of you and hoping all goes well. Anytime they need to put you under it's a scary procedure.

Good luck, that's a big step. Lots of work ahead, I know what that's like. I hope your health improves from it.

I'll be thinking good thoughts my friend. The band seems like a much smarter alternative to gastric bypass to me. I just hope we'll be able to recognize you in Wheeling! Good luck!
