Yeah, we have discussing this in the boxing forum I post at.

Puerto Rico's murder rate per capita is even higher than Mexico's, that's a shame because it's a beautiful island.

Poor Camacho, but the word is that he was involved in some shady business himself.

Hope he survives, he was a great boxer.

My friend just texted me on this sad news. I met Camacho many times in las vegas. He was always a pleasure to be around. He is in my thoughts & prayers. Scary for sure though. One of my friends was shot in a very nice part of las vegas in a grocery store parking lot. He had no connection with drugs, gangs or anything. He survived.

Wed Nov 21st-From Puerto Rico sources report that former world champion Hector “El Macho” Camacho remains in critical condition in the Rio Piedras Medical Center after being shot Tuesday night in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Adding to the complications, Camacho suffered a heart attack at about 4:15am this morning and doctors called his brain activity “rather low.” It is hoped that his fitness from being a professional athlete will help pull him through.

I just heard they are trying to decide if he is brain dead or not. It sucks that this happened, but if he lived the lifestyle, i can't really feel sorry for him.

UPDATE: An electroencephalogram (EEG) has been administered to former world champion Hector “Macho” Camacho to measure the electrical activity of the brain. Results are expected this afternoon. Camacho is in a “deep coma” and requires artificial respiration to breath. His mother has arrived at the hospital and she would make any final decisions.

Met him a few years ago. He was a super nice guy! Took time to speak to everyone, pose for pics and sign anything poeple asked him to. Got an autographed glove and picture from him. Wish him well!

From strictly a boxing fan perspective, Macho is one of my all time fav's......but from a personal point of view, there were bags of cocaine in the car and the drug deal went south. If one chooses to get involved in that lifestyle, stuff happens. I hope he pulls through. He's a funny guy and I've had the pleasure of chatting with him on facebook not too long ago.

                      Hang in there Macho Man!
