anyone else having trouble finding a good deal since Toy Hunter first aired?

I love the show and think it's great to see stuff like that on TV.. But man since that show first aired I have not found one decent deal on ebay Every one assumes they have a goldmine now...I use to pride myself in finding some great deals at least 3 times a week..I can't find ****

Just curious if anyone else is having a similar problem? Now please understand I'm not blaming the show in any way Like i said I'm a huge fan..could be just a bad streak for me

I agree, stuff that you use to see fairly cheap is going high, and even worse, stuff thats beat , used and missing parts are now demanding higher prices. I guess its cool now for everyone to play with superheros. Guess we can always say we did it first, and cheaper!

Yeah, I noticed it too...everything's a treasure now, even if it's worthless.
That's the downside of shows like that. A guy came in our store last week (and we only sell posters) with some Wal-Mart repro G.I Joes and wanted $1000 EACH. I tried to tell him they were new and he threw a fit, told me I was full of it, cause "I seen it on TV!!"

Maybe it would be a good time to sell off some pieces, and buy back in after the "picker/hunter" fad has died down? Or are sellers' prices up, but nobody is buying?

It kills me everytime I go to flea market or a yard sale and people are asking crazy prices because they saw it on tv or it is listed on ebay for that much.

I know times are tough and everything and everyone has to do what they have to to survive but it's everywhere man...all the thrift shops I go to are full of "Pickers/Thrifters " as I call them...the books,cd,DVD and toys section are full of these people all with phones scanning and checking everything

I think it depends on how you look at it. It's great if you're selling your stuff,not so much if you're buying.

It was only a matter of time, but the availability of information is a lot greater with technology.

I went to an Auction a couple weeks ago and everyone had their Iphones out checking eBay for what the exact items are going for.

I agree that it is alot harder to find good deals now, but I like the shows because it actually makes people go look for their old toys in the attics and basements. Quality items can finally be discovered possibly?

Yes they are...I have been following many bids...I even tried to win some items...I constantly get destroyed at auctions...a lot of high rollers out there.

it depends on what you have...Obviously rare items still do well..but common stuff not so much

I've always said the hunt is the main joy for me. There have definitely been less of them since all these shows have aired. Last week I hit a 99 cent auction that had a pretty nice ironman glove in it along with a couple of other OK things. Not mind blowing but I'm sure nobody here would have passed on it. I also hit a lot of 80's figures for around $20 delivered that had a Super Powers Shazam, a Golden Pharoah, and Mr. Miracle plus about 10 other 80's action figures and accessories. There are deals out there, just harder to find.
