True reason why they closed:Hostess Brands is a microcosm of what’s wrong with America
"Only Silver Point and Monarch could have kept Hostess out of liquidation and kept the Twinkie bakery ovens firing. But they were, ultimately, unable to reach a deal with the unions that represents the workers who make and deliver products like Twinkies, Wonderbread and Ding Dongs. Without large union concessions—what some would say, total union capitulation—the hedge funds decided Hostess would have to die."
I'm reading from feeds that the top brands will be bought up and distributed by (an)other manufacturer(s). So there is hope on that end of the spectrum. Just hope the employees can find new jobs. Sad day indeed.

I don't. Devil Dogs are dry as sawdust to me.
I love Hostess Cupcakes, but the only pies I liked were lemon, cherry, blueberry and blackberry.
NONE of which I can find up here in the Bronx, for love or money.
I can usually get Little Debbies, but their cupcakes taste terrible, even after refrigeration. I mostly stick to the lemon and cherry pies.
This is a sad, sad day for us Boomers.Leave a comment:

I bought a bunch of the chocolates with the cream filling today.
They were ok but I will always remember them for these kind of ads.

Hostess bought Drakes' years ago, so all their stuff is affected to. In fact a co-worker was just telling me about a friend who showed up for work at a Drake's facility to find they were closing. I will reiterate what others have said: The most famous stuff will be back. I don't think anyone will buty the actual company (they've tried, no interest) but rather the rights to make these things and the brand names. My pick is Bimbo Bakeries who aleady own the likes of Sara lee, Arnold's bread and Entemann's. Adding credence to this I've already seen Entemann's fruit pies and a version of Hostess Cup Cakes. It's nto a wide stretch to believe they'd buy the brand's to increase their presense in stores.Leave a comment:

No Drakes around here. Just Hostess and Little Debbie. Hostess seemed to retreat a lot in these parts while I wasn't looking anyway. Little Debbie gets whole endcaps of their products. Haven't seen Dolly Madison stuff in years. I loved Zingers as a kid.

I guess I need to get out more. I have never even seen a drakes cake, I thought they were a made up product on Seinfeld. Of course I thought the same thing about P.F Changs, never knew it was a real place.Leave a comment:

I think "big Wheel" was the Indian chief?
Also, I think hostess actually owns drakes cakes, so no devil dogs! This is terrible.Leave a comment:
