I just added up the puzzle time sheets; we have worked on this puzzle for 96 hours and 2 minutes. Not counting the almost 1,000 piece border, we have at least 1,721 pieces together. There are actually more pieces together, but while tracking time is mandatory for puzzle workers, counting pieces is not.
There are new photos on Facebook and Flickr.sigpicComment

Just saw this thread thats a lot of pieces, I once had a "baked bean" puzzle which I found crazy to do. I just clicked onto the "making of the puzzle" on the amazon site, didnt realise there was so much technology behind it. Laughed when they said they have a "service" dep. if U lose a pieceComment

This is the type of thing I'd like to do some day. Unfortunately, i just don't have the space or the time to do it now. Just broke out a 1000 piece MC Escher puzzle over the weekend and it's about 2/3 complete after approximately 12 hours of work. Rough estimates of other workers puts it at about 30 hours until completion, so I'm feeling pretty confident I can beat that number.
Good luck with your quest.Comment

***January 23, 2013 update***
We are 151 hours and 57 minutes into the puzzle. We have 3,640 counted pieces together. More are done, but not all our visitors count their pieces. 18,240 pieces divided by 50 pieces a day equals 364.8 days, or one year. This is day 71 and by schedule, we should have 3,550 pieces done. We are at least 90 pieces ahead!sigpicComment
