    Questions about a Kindle?

So if my wife and friends don't win the free one, i plan on buying one for her birthday. Is it safe to buy one on ebay? What should i look for? And what is a good price? Anyone with experience in the matter, your help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming youre talking about a Kindle Fire? I Fire is a fine thing, but it's not as slick and user-friendly as an Ipad. That being said, you should be able to find a just-about-new Fire on eBay for the $150 range. My mother in law bought one but was dissapointed with it. I think she was expecting a little ipad. Kindle is a great platform and pre ipad I enjoyed various versions of the Kindle. I sure enjoy reading and its a way to buy all those books without having to find room for them. Hopefully the seller will go in a wipe the Kindle and restore it to factory settings. If not, its easly enough to find the unstructions on the Amazon site. Good luck on your bidding.

We bought my dad one for Xmas last year...off Amazon. Got a really good deal and free shipping. My preference though..I guess ebay would be fine.

When you buy a Fire on Amazon, you get a trial subscription to Amazon Prime. While Prime is not necessary to use the Kindle Fire... in my opinion, it enhances the Kindle experience. So I'm not sure what Kindle's are going for on eBay (or for that matter, you may already have Prime), but I'd consider the value of the Prime subscription into your equation before deciding to buy a used one.

Ok the hunt is on for a kindle. I appreciate the help guys. Is there anything else i need to know about a kindle before i buy one? I usually stalk an item like this for a week or more, seeing what they actually end at so i know how to bid.

Do NOT get a used one off of ebay. Buy it from amazon. It will be all ready to go and linked to your amazon account. Plus a warrenty.

            The $159 model.

            Kindle Fire HD $199.

You are a bold and courageous person, afraid of nothing. High on a hill top near your home, there stands a dilapidated old mansion. Some say the place is haunted, but you don't believe in such myths. One dark and stormy night, a light appears in the topmost window in the tower of the old house. You decide to investigate... and you never return...

I agree, for the couple of bucks you might save, it is not worth the extra time and hassle to set it up to your Amazon account. Plus, you never know when buying used.

I have 4 Kindle's in my house. I wouldn't buy from anywhere but Amazon. They don't work unless they're attached to an account from them and their warranty service is unbeatable.

We have a kindle fire that I bought for my wife last Xmas. I'm actually logged in using it now to type this. I also say get it from Amazon. About two months ago, the mini USB port got loose and the kindle would not charge well anymore. I called customer service and within three days we had a replacement and a box to ship the old one back. No charge no questions.
                  It's all good!

I agree, get it through Amazon, not eBay.

My kids got my wife a Kindle last year. It was the $80 Black Friday special one from Best Buy. She wasn't really sure she wanted one as she isn't exactly tech savvy. She loves it and uses it regularly. I was going to upgrade her to a fire this year but she's still happy so we'll wait until next year. It's a 6 inch screen and I think it's got less memory but it'll hold over 1000 books and I believe it's the same as the $99 one BB offers now. Haven't had any issues at all. Also have a 6" screen Sony E-reader I got for my daughter. That one has been very good as well.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up picking up a kindle fire yesterday for $175. Brand new, and since i missed the black friday deals i thought it was as good a price as i was going to find.
