A big announcement! The LUNCHBOX PROJECT!

Last month, I began a project that's been a dream of mine for a long time...one-of-a-kind HAND-PAINTED custom metal lunchboxes. I took one of the new NECA boxes, sanded the artwork off, primed it, and then drew and painted my own artwork on it. Both sides, each end, the bottom, and the thermos will all have different scenes from The Mummy. The finished side in the photo took me about 20 hours to complete. I'd like to know what you guys think, and any suggestions for boxes you'd like to see. I want to do each of the the Universal monsters, a 1966 TV Batman, and Johnny Quest for sure.

    Are you using standard acrylics?

I think the artwork is fantastic. The only thing I would say is that I'm not sure I love it on a lunchbox. What I dig about old metal lunchboxes is that the graphics told a story. I remember staring at mine at lunchtime during school and reading them almost like a comic book with no words... making up my own stories.

again, the art is outstanding. You're extremely talented and I'm just being nitpicky.

You're not being nitpicky...I actually agree with you, and trust me, the more action oriented boxes will have more "scenes" on them, but with a subject like this, I just want to get in as many shots of the monster as possible. If you've never seen the Mummy, it's a pretty slow film. Nobody wants to see a couple old dudes standing around talking! So these boxes will be more about the mood of the character and creating a spooky atmosphere.

Yes, the thermos will be painted too...when it's all said and done, we're talking six individual paintings per box/thermos and probably 100+ hours. The price will be around $1000, but they will soooo be worth it. There won't be anything else out there like it.

                          Brilliant!

So then the other sides(5) will be painted as well?

Really love the idea and seems like it would do will that type of canvas and a great artists. Good luck!

Awesome work! I wish I could afford to buy a 60s Batman one.
