    Chris De Burgh

Is he a member here or what? It seems every time I log onto the museum there's an album by him in the Amazon header. I didn't even know he had so many albums considering he is basically a 2-hit wonder (Lady in Red and Don't Pay the Ferryman).

Does he appear on everyone else's Amazon link or is it just me?

Nope I have his two hits. No reason I would search for him. I think the last album I bought on Amazon was by Elton John and that was years ago.

Joe DeRouen is pretty much the king of Chris DeBurgh fans, and also hosts the official CDB website The Official Chris de Burgh Website here on the same server as the Mego Museum. We indulge him due to his generous hosting of our site.

I think they should at least have his nemesis Bill Bailey's albums or dvds opposite his...just to balance things up.

He shows up on my Banner as well. I have never searched him in any search engine, web site or forum. I have the album with "Don't pay the ferryman" and that is all i need.

                You know.......

To me Chris De Burgh IS Mego Museum

Whenever I hear Lady In Red on the radio, I can't help but think of this place

We REALLY should make Lady In Red our offfical theme song

I will be the frst to vote YES on Lady In Red as Mego Museum's offical theme song

He's actually relatively popular in Europe and hugely popular in Germany. He's released upwards of twenty albums, I believe. And, yes, I host the official CdeB website at http://www.cdeb.com on my server and that's probably why the searches show up.

My only Chris de Burgh story and it happened in 2001 in, where else, Morocco-

So we've rented a car to get out of Marrakesh for the day. Its a fascinating place, but we wanted to see this supposedly cool waterfall about an hour outside the city. And it doesn't dissappoint. Its a fantasic setting with locals swimming at its base and sitting around, enjoying the cool reprieve from the African sun. We do hear, however, the proverbial needle scratch off the record when we appear. I don't think a lot of tourists make their way out here and I know my red-headed girlfriend and my pasty-white self aren't exactly blending. But people return to their business including those who quickly want to accomodate a tourist for a bit of small change.

I've already paid one local to take our picture with my camera (the shot of me was in kind of ready-to-run position in case he decided my camera was better payment than the few coins I had prepared.) when a second guy asks if we need to have a picture made. Dejected does not come close to how he looks when I explain we've already taken our picture. But then he lights up again to ask us if wwe are from America. He's practically beaming I respnd positively. And then I find out what has made him so ecstatic. Its just the mere possibility that I may have, at some point, perhaps even interacted with the subject of his question.

"Do you know Chris de Burgh?"

Why he thought that, in all of the vastness of the Unites States, I might have run into the Argentinain-Irish pop star was only as curious as my girlfriend's complete lack of recollection of Chris de Burgh. I realize he has enjoyed international popularity for years, but he really hadn't been on the US pop-radar for about 16 years. I don't think I had heard the name since my junior prom. So to now be confronted by the widened, hopeful Arab eyes in this off-the path town in northern Africa was a bit... unexpected.

The gentleman, who I would find out is called Farid, was actually quite nice. He even had several pieces of de Burgh sheet music with him. Apparently he always did. He went as far as to invite back to his home where he would play some de Brcgh on his prized possesion, his second hand guitar. Unfortunately, we had to get back to town, but de Burgh's reach made for a memorable afternoon.
