I heard it was due to complications from Diverticulitis...that's what I had...it almost did me in as well.

Yes, very unexpected...he looked good doing color commentating on HBO Boxing not too long ago.

Man, I wonder how the HBO Boxing cast will take it once they go back in the air.

Great trainer, one of the very best.

    RIP

Wow Hector besides the boxing now there is something else we have in common- I was recently diagnosed with Diverticulosis! Thats all I really need on top of my seizures!

Was your diverticulitis cured by surgery?

I agree- easily one of the best trainers

Many posters already have read this to ad nauseum...but since you didn't know...this is for your eyes only...lol...

Part of my colon was initially removed...but four weeks after successful surgery, I had a bowel obstruction and waste flooded my insides...had emergency surgery (had several blood transfusions, lost lots of blood)...and eventually my entire colon was removed (part of my small intestines as well)...I developed sepsis...four super bugs...kidney failure, water in lungs, a fistula, had a tracheotomy done, was given an ileostomy, self-sedated for six weeks, muscle atrophy, nerve damage...three month hospital stay...and one year of rehab at a nursing facility. Fun ride, lol.

Had a total of four surgeries that year.

Good news in the end...my kidneys rebounded and was taken off dialysis, and my ileostomy bag was removed...thank goodness for that.

My remaining intestines have now fully taken the place of my missing colon. I have enough intestines (no diverticulitis) to live an almost normal life, I just go to the bathroom a bit more frequently than the average person, that's why I love my bidet, lol.

I'm good now...still have leftover nerve damage on both my legs...and a ton of surgical scar on my abdomen area...life is good, lol.

I actually read about Manny's death before he actually died. Some reports leaked while the man was still alive and his family was upset. Ultimately he died hours later.

Despite his obvious successes with Hearns, Lewis and Kronk Gym, Manny helped keep hundred of kids off of tough Detroit streets over the years and often welcomed these underprivileged kids into his home while training. He was a good man.

I'll miss him in the HBO booth too.
