Well, not to be a downer here, but it's just a comicstrip being turned into a movie adaptation, it's not like defacing the Sistine Chapel or anything.

And aside from Family Circus fans (those who are OK with this), who else is going to be interested in this?

Y'know.... I don't normally think this but I HOPE it's a flop. If not, it means they'll be mining old comic strips for films and I really don't think we need ANOTHER round of Blondie movies. Or a live-action Peanuts starring Seth Rogen. I've heard there's a Heathcliff movie in the works too....

In big-budget-movie-production-think a Family Circus movie is a no-brainer. It's something EVERYBODY knows, and it's all about the name recognition.

I SO pray to almighty Cthulhu for NEW stuff. Every great story possible HASN'T been told yet.

Not to be outdone with comic strip movies, Paramount has announced this afternoon that they will make a live action version of The Far Side directed by M Night Shyamalan. Pre-production begins next week for a Christmas 2012 release.
